Kaoru's pale eyes flashed, focusing on somebody on the ground. She wandered over and stared, hands at her sides.

"Why are you reading on the ground?"

He looked up at her, cocking an eyebrow. Blue hair, dead eyes...he'd seen a picture of this girl once, but where...?

Ah, he remembered. It was in a medical file for a certain research project. He'd have to look into it more, since she was on his ship. "'Cause it beats reading standing up," he answered, closing the book in one hand and resting the other casually on his bent knee.

"Oh. Does it?" She leaned over to stare at the book. "What's it about? I only have a few books." Two, in fact, both gifts from this past Lunasa.

"It's a history book." His grin widened. "Or a pack of lies. Depends on who you talk to."

Stepping out on deck, Anko had been hit with the feeling she was being watched. Not that it was hard to find the source of it, given that Low Key wasn't exactly trying to hide himself.

Anko wandered over lazily, hands shoved in her jacket pockets. "Reading anything interesting?"

The ex-con glanced up at the woman who'd addressed him, not without interest of his own. "Sure, it's great. It's long, complicated, has more lists of names than the minutes of a town hall meeting and is about as accurate as a tabloid. But it's cool." He slipped a finger in between the pages and closed the book one-handed, giving her his full attention. Low Key's voice had a teasing lilt to it. "You wouldn't be interested in old, dry historians, would you?"

She grimaced faintly, coupling it with a short laugh. "How fun. Not much interested, unless someone's making me pay attention," she admitted, good-humoredly. "Sorry." Anko didn't sound chagrined in the least.

"Didn't think so," he replied with a laugh. "Besides, you look like you've got better things to think about, don't you?" Low Key climbed to his feet, tucking the book away and offering a hand to shake. "Nice t'meetcha."

Jenka was enjoying this "Public Relations" position. Last year, on the 4423, she would have been swabbing the deck, or coiling the ropes, or doing something equally tedious in order to justify her presence on the ship. Here, unless something was actually happening, her only job was to keep her weapons clean and occasionally glare at the passengers to make sure they weren't sticking their noses where they didn't belong.

On the other hand, of course, it left her with a lot of time filled with doing absolutely nothing. That was the problem with airships.

"Hyu gots nottink to do eider, hm?"

A slow smile spread across his scarred-up face as she approached. "Who's complaining about some downtime?" Of course, Low Key had more than enough things to occupy him, he'd been quite busy of late in fact, but Jenka didn't need to know that. "Don't tell me you're bored, Jenka," he teased.

The Jäger grinned back and, without giving it another thought, stretched out on the deck next to her old acquaintance. As good a way of spending the next half hour as most.

Damn, but it was strange to see him again.

"Yah, just a leedle," she admitted.

He didn't find it strange to talk to her again, but Low Key was used to the idea of people being around for a long, long time. "The best thing to do in times like these," he advised, leaning to the side slightly to murmur confidentially, "is to make your own entertainment. There's a whole town out there--" he made a sweeping gesture with his arm -- "with no idea, no fucking clue we're here. What do you say, Jenka, do you think we ought to change that? Or have you lost your taste for it since you finally found your new mistress?" His eyes flashed, a mocking light in them. "Heard she was a soft one. A real do-gooder."

Ryuuki didn't know the man on the deck, but Bakuya did. Bakuya was not a sentient sword, it could only differentiate between human and non-human. Had it been sentient, it would have warned her owner. As it was, it could sense no killing intent or imminent danger and stayed silent as Ryuuki passed by Low Key.

....wait, was that a man or a woman? Man, definitely, Low Key decided on closer inspection of the passerby's figure, but the face and hair were -- there was no other word for it -- pretty. Handsome, some might call it. Girly was the term Low Key would use.

"Hey. Hey, you!" he called out after Ryuuki. "What's got you in such a hurry?"

The fact that he'd pulled his hair back into a ponytail probably didn't help his case.

He didn't realize right away that he was being spoken to, but when he did he turned back with a vaguely puzzled expression. "You're...talking to me?"

"No, I'm talking to the other girl behind you." Maybe it wasn't fair to pick on the guy, but Low Key was bored.

Dimo, was proud of the new scars that he'd managed to get, between the barfight and his lovely new lady. It was frustrating, therefore, to have the doctors in the infirmary react as though he were just any other mortal patient, and wrap his wounds in bandages. They were nearly healed already, though Bang might have to carve a bit harder if she wanted to leave something permanent on him.

He raised a curious eyebrow at the fellow who was sprawled out reading. The book didn't seem to hold his attention, though, and his eyes darted back and forth from pages to book and back again. "Looks to me like dey's all more interesting den dot vhat hyu gots dere," Dimo commented, kneeling down next to Low Key.

Low Key looked up to meet Dimo's eyes. Another Jäger, was it? The bandages and scars weren't any kind of surprise, then. The ex-con gave a dry smile, snapping the book shut. "Yeah?" he said. "I don't know about that. This is a book about people, after all. The difference is, I've read this before, but you are new to me. Jägerkin, am I right?"

Dimo shook his head and nodded toward the other people coming and going around them. "Dot's just a book about pipples, but iz more fun to actually talk to de pipples und go und have a drink vith dem. Den mebbe hyu gets enough schtuff of hyu own to write vun of dem books, ja?"

He threw his shoulders back proudly at the mention of his, for want of a better word, species. "Of courze!" Dimo replied, and drew one of his knives from its sheath. Flipping it and then catching it with one hand, he grinned, and his yellow eyes flashed. "Hyu zound like hyu's met vun of us before. Dot de case?"
