Characters: Hitsugaya Toshirou, and anyeone else he happens to run into
Content: Toshirou sneaks off the ship to get some candy before the ship leaves, after being ordered by Jushirou Sogyo not to leave it.
Setting: Kropmork city
Time: Midnight
Warnings: possible language

( a little determination was all it took )

Naoto had been wandering around the city of Kropmork, after having done her own fruitless investigation underground she opted for something to calm her frazzled nerves. The ship was fine and all but there was something about fresh air that appealed to her, and it helped soothe her senses.

There was still no one who knew anything about her past and her killer, and her only clue was helpless. Letting a quiet, exasperated sigh escape her lips, Naoto continued to walk upon the streets looking about distractedly at the stores and shops that laced each side.

That was until her shoulder bumped into something mysteriously short. She threw a look behind her and was met with a tuft of hair before noticing his figure.

"..ah..excuse me."

Toshirou hated being so much shorter than everyone else. It made navigating through large crowds rather difficult at times. Mostly because people weren't in the habit of looking down. He'd just made a purchase at a store, and was trying to protect his wares when someone bumped him and sent his precious bag of candy flying.

A string of curses flew from his lips, and he scrambled after his candy. He was just reaching a hand out to pick up the abused package, when a large foot came down and crushed it. Hitsugaya swore, clenching his fists as he glared at the person who had caused him to drop his candy.

Knuckles loved the night. The only problem was, in places such as this where people settled into a large city, there were lights. The phenomenon of so many lights at such an hour was such a mystery to Knuckles. Still, people around cities did have a tendency to have poor eyesight around the dark. Perhaps they wished to do things at night they wished they could do in the day ( ... )

About to have some serious words with the idiot who had stepped on his candy bag, Toshirou looked around as he heard shouting nearby. Something about a hat? He looked over his shoulder and was immediately hit in the face by a small leather hat.

Pulling it off his face in disgust, Toshirou looked down at the small red, something that was looking up at him. He blinked in confusion a couple times. What?........What is that?

"This yours?" He asked pointing to the hat in his hands.

"Yes, it is!" He said. "Now give it back!"

He sized up the guy for a minute. He wasn't nearly as freakishly tall as the other people he met, but he definitely had at least a foot on him. Why did humans have to be so tall anyways? What bugged him most was the say this guy was staring at him. He acted as though he'd never seen a demihuman before. He must be a sheltered brat with that attitude. Well, as long as he gave him back his hat.

"What's your problem?!" Knuckles demanded, as a response to the staring and confused look the guy gave him.

"My problem? What the hell's your problem?" Toshirou growled as he threw the hat back at the small creature like person, thing? "I was minding my own business until your stupid hat smacked me in the face!"

Truth was Toshirou wasn't used to looking down at anyone. It was really weird. Bending down he picked up his trampled bag of candy and sighed. Now he'd have to go all the way back to that vendor to get another bag.

He had been following her for several hours now. By "her," Hachibei meant the beautiful bottom of a young lady, who seemed to pay no mind to the young youth, because she was too preoccupied with the large, muscular man she was with. Therefore, Hachibei hid in the shadows and watched her from afar. Very rarely had he seen women dress scantily enough to check for certain parts that he would be normally be incapable of checking for because of clothes.

For some reason, it never crossed Hachibei's mind that what he witnessed was a shady dealing. Being the optimistic guy he was, he just followed her around until she and the man strolled into an inn and were out of sight.

At that moment, Hachibei broke out of a trance and took note of his surroundings. He saw an inn, a few houses, a tavern, and a candy store, which laid out in front of him. Of all of those, nothing was familiar. Apparently, he had been chasing her for so long, he had not realized the direction he was going.

"SWEET MERCY!" He exclaimed. "I'm lost!!!!!"

Skidding around a corner Hitsugaya almost ran into a young man standing in the middle of the street, shouting his misfortune to the skys. Ignoring the kid, he spotted the candy store and almost shouted for joy. "Yes! I made it before they closed."

Tossing his trampled bag in the trash, he moved towards the store already contemplating what kind of candy he'd purchase this time.

At first, Hachibei was beginning to lose hope and began thinking of the several different fates that awaited an Ivonian boy, walking all alone in the streets of Kropmork. Until he saw that boy, that is. The minute he saw the little guy run into candy shop, his eyes were filled with joy and hope.

There was a store open at this hour! Heck, there was a kid walking around at this hour, too! That meant safety! He could either get directions from the store owner or the kid. Either way, he needed someone to help him get to the docks. If this guy was capable of walking out on his own, he could certainly help him get to the docks, right?

With an excited, pumping heart, Hachibei strolled into the candy shop and scanned it for the white-haired boy until he spotted him and walked towards him in an unfortunately suspicious manner, coughing rather loudly.

Toshirou was in heaven. He moved down each isle in the store pausing every now and then to grab more candy placing it carefully in his bag. He was just about to make his way to the store clerk and pay for his purchases when he heard someone coughing nearby.

Glancing over his shoulder, Hitsugaya noticed that same boy he'd seen outside wailing his misfortune was now standing behind him. He just stared at the boy and waited for him to say whatever it was he was going to say.
