Nack had a prediction. It was that he was going to explode if he didn't get to put his feet down on something that was out of the sight distance of this ship anytime soon. The modifications were happening slowly. Tempers were boiling over. He'd given the excuse that he needed a tool from his room just for a chance to get away from the maintenance deck.

It was quiet down here.

That was why he noticed the scufflings. Rust-bucket airship like this, that was just a part of the atmosphere. He didn't think anything about it, but he still heard it. The command room was on this hallway, on his way back to the deck. He didn't even consider why somebody might be in the command room when the ship was docked and idle and undergoing heavy maintenance of all things. It wasn't until he walked by that something seemed off. He heard the noises, he almost, almost thought he saw a chair by the control panels move, but there was nobody in sight. No head that he could see from over the back of the chair. It made him pause for half a second.

Upon the captain's orders, Yosuke found himself heading towards the bridge where the source of the noise seemed to originate from - he had been nearby when he had heard it, and since the captain had asked... well, it wasn't as if he could just say no to him. That would be pretty much suicidal around here.

Thus keeping his journal and headphones close, the brunette cautiously made his way into the area, poking his head through the doorway to look around the place to see if it was safe before entering it properly, calling out somewhat nervously as he entered. "H-Hello?"

Kaoru didn't care about the ship or the orders. She was just on the bridge because, if there really was something there, seeing it might be better than what these people did for fun.

She saw the movement, too, and had to stop herself from shooting a round of dark power at it.

With the back of the chair turned towards the doorway, it was difficult to see just who or what was in the room, but there was plenty to hear.

626 pulled a lever, and from somewhere towards the rear of the ship came a resounding clang! It was followed by muffled shouting, as whatever workers who happened to be there to witness it got an unexpected surprise.

"Eeehehehehe!" The creature clapped his hands and cackled gleefully, before he began pressing and turning the controls in earnest.

Rukia tore down a hallway of the ship, heading for the bridge, she thought, but... something was wrong here. Somewhere, while running around the ship with no shoes (because she couldn't find her nice comfy pair and she wasn't averse to running around in socks on-board), she'd taken a wrong turn and ended up... uh... Oh! One level down! Dangit!

Cursing herself in her head, she wheeled around a door frame, heading for the nearest stairs and pounding up them. running faster than one might think for such a tiny girl, she rushed for the command center, hoping nothing really really bad had gotten on board.

Especially since she didn't have anything but really weak magic to defend herself at the moment...

If Rukia looked closely enough as she ran, she might notice that a cluster of overhead pipes was making some odd popping and cracking sounds, a bit of steam escaping from where the joints fit together. There was a shut-off lever on the wall near by, but it appeared that something had suddenly turned them on full-throttle, and the pressure was threatening to cause them to burst any second now.

In fact, something in the ceiling took a moment longer for her to notice, but the urgency of the noise sent her skidding back to the current, very big, problem. A steam pipe bursting, she knew, could be catastrophic, not only for the ship suddenly losing steam power, but for anyone who happened to be in that hallway at the time...

Spotting the full-on lever, Rukia threw herself at it, hoping that shutting them off full-stop would, if not fix the problem, at least help it. She really, really hoped.

The steam hissed, but once Rukia had shut off the flow, the pipes gave another, quiet rattle and seemed to settle. Crisis averted, however, that was only one small part of an even bigger problem brewing a level down.

The boiler room was overheating; it's temperatures climbing higher and higher by the second.

Zoë has her hand on her trusty rifle as she climbed the steps up towards the bridge area. Someone was certainly making an awful lot of noise up there, and there shouldn't be anyone in there at the moment. This stank, and she intended to find out the source.

As Zoë reached the top of the ladder, two things happened. One, there was an alarming noise from the rear section of the ship, one that's vibrations managed to travel up even this far through the ship. And two, a red warning light came on overhead, casting part of the bridge in it's glow as it glared to life.

Well. That wasn't a good sign. Someone was definitely messing with something they oughtn't, and Zoë wasn't prepared to assume it was accidental.

She held the Mule's Leg in front of her as she stepped slowly into the bridge area, scanning back and forth for signs of movements. "Alright," she said, "come out nice and slow, whoever you are, and nobody's gonna get hurt."

With a small 'pop' the ship's PA system came on, broadcasting several voices that were echoed by what was happening further towards the control room.

And no more than a moment later, something blue, furry and low to the ground came scurrying down the bridge towards Zoë at a rapid pace.

Zack was feeling a bit disgruntled. Okay, disgruntled was probably too mild a word for what he was feeling right now. All those bags of snacks he'd bought earlier on his last pit stop before joining up with Serenity? All gone. Only thing left was some crumbs left on the floor.

The only good thing was that they were at another large city now, so he could get more. But if he ever caught the eater-of-snacks-that-aren't-theirs...

Holding a bag of newly bought snacks, Zack headed towards his room, frowning as he heard noises coming from the command area.

"What the hell...?"

If Zack were to look up at the ceiling at that precise moment, he might spy something dart from the vent opening and quickly scurry overhead. That something was small--about the size of a toddler--but definitely not as unassuming, or human.

After his run-in with Zoë and her rifle, 626 was being a bit more careful at attracting unwanted attention, and moved swiftly and silently. It seemed the humans on board this ship were a little tougher than he'd imagined, but he'd at least managed to sabotage the boiler room before he'd been discovered. Now, his goal was to find his way off the ship as quickly as possible, before it had time to overheat and explode.

Pausing for just a moment above Zack's head, 626 sniffed at the air, identifying the bag the human was holding as the same food he'd helped himself to the other day. But he wasn't hungry at the moment, and time was short, so after he'd learned this information, he continued on his way.

Kenpachi wasn't far away (lost again) when he heard the nasty screeching sound of something being run when it shouldn't be. "What the hell is that?" he demanded. It was friggin' loud!
