At around that time, Hibari was in the hangar deck (as per usual), smoking (as per usual), checking his plane (as per usual). The airship he chose to be on may have changed, but his habits never really did--

--And what was that infernal noise? The dark-haired pilot's eyebrow twitched as he looked up, trying to figure out where it was coming from. It twitched up further when he saw the source.

[ooc: from here]

Upon entering the hangar, Joshua searched for a possible way to distract Toshizou so he could make a getaway. That guy was more persistent than he previously gave him credit for. Joshua knew he really couldn't running for all that much longer.

As soon as he spotted Hibari, Joshua sprinted in his direction. Maybe he'd intervene? Though Joshua wasn't counting on it, since bystanders so very often liked to keep things as Someone Else's problem...

Hibari was usually no exception, except the noise level was more than just distracting. It was downright irritating. And it seemed as though the boy that was running towards him was leading the source right over.

"Are you responsible for the noise?" he asked, as soon as the boy was within earshot.

The thunder of footsteps drew nearer and nearer. Before Joshua got a chance to respond to Hibari, Hijikata entered the room, a sword in his hand and murder in his eyes.

"Stop running and accept your punishment, you little son of a bitch!"

Having only recently spoken to the quartermaster about getting a job, Hijikata was just on his way back to the inn he'd stayed in the night before. He had to pack his things together--which would hardly take long, since he owned little in the first place and kept it all tidy--then hand in the keys and check out before he could go about getting settled on the Convoy. Besides that, there wasn't too much on his mind yet. He felt that he'd just turned a new page in his life, and the rest was blank and clear, ready to be written.

As he headed up towards the deck, he caught sight of someone in the corner of his eye. His instincts shouted at him to look, so he stopped walking and turned towards--

That son of a bitch.

Turning to face Joshua fully, he drew himself up to his full height and glared down at him. "You," he hissed, eyes alight with an unholy bloodlust.

... Well. It looked like his fun would be temporarily cut short.

For a brief moment, Joshua considered playing it cool, talking his way out of this like he talked his way out of many problems before. But it was easy enough for him to tell there was no talking his way out of this.

... He bolted down the corridor.

Hijikata's eyes narrowed. "You little bastard," he growled, mostly to himself. Then he took off like a rocket in pursuit of his target, with a mighty bellow.

"You won't get away with what you did!"

Some people were just so touchy. Do something that insults their honour once...

It was a good thing Joshua knew how to run, pelting down the hall at top speed. However. Where could he go? He couldn't run forever, and Joshua didn't want to know what would happen to him if he was caught. The infirmary? The doctors would at least protest if Toshizou broke their medicines in his rage, and would possibly throw him out. If anything, if he did get caught by Toshizou, at least he didn't have far to go for healing. But...

There was that doctor. The one with the sharp teeth. Joshua would prefer it if he didn't run into her while injured. Joshua got the distinct impression she was the sort who wouldn't bother giving her patients painkillers. The bridge, maybe? Argh no, too far away. Maybe he could lose Toshizou in the hangar? It was close...

And with that in mind, Joshua abruptly changed his direction and sprinted in the direction of the hangar.

MEAT SHIELD COMING THROUGH hushthenoise May 10 2010, 14:29:49 UTC
It had already been a while since Neku was onboard the ship, but it wasn't that all surprising if nobody actually knew about him save for the captain and first mate - after all, the teenager hadn't done much in his work besides brooding in the rarely-used brig. The work was always taken care of well by the others, and it wasn't like he would be of much help being there anyway - and besides, he didn't like having to be in the same area as the others.

Which was why now while everyone was busy with god-knew-what, the teenager was on his way to his usual hangout at the brig, where he could just stay there for as long as he liked with nothing but his journal and his portable radio. The brig was so rarely used, it wasn't as if nobody would ever come to bother him there.

Dojima was far too busy getting his daughter and partner settled in to be "mingling" up on the bridge. He already had a meeting set up with the first mate and captain later- what was important was making sure he and his partner touched base. Their investigation here was Dojima's top priority, but it required a level of secrecy he wasn't sure his partner could maintain.

"We have to be discreet. Nobody can know we're partners. Got it, Adachi?"

Adachi himself was leaning in closely, making sure not to miss a single one of Dojima's words. That's just what you do when you're discussing private things, right? Nothing weird about that.

"Got it, Dojima-san," he replied in a hushed voice, already working on being 'discreet' (because whispering in a secluded area is not suspicious at all). "But don't worry. I'm a natural at this kind of stuff."

Neku had been nearing the brig when he heard those voices - his portable radio hadn't been turned on yet, so he could make them out in the silence of the general area. Not their exact words, but he could tell there were two voices... both of them guys. And it seemed like they were in his usual hangout the brig. What were people doing all the way anyway? Hardly anyone came down here... and with all that whispering, Neku couldn't help but be suspicious.

One hand reaching into the pocket of his pants, the orange-headed teenager slowly made his way closer towards the source of the whispers, fingers easing around the edge of the pin that was tucked inside. He doubted that he would need it, but if they were intruders... well, then they'd know better than to mess with him when he needed his quiet.

Nikolas was still getting to know the place, but he had the feeling he was going to like working on the Convoy. At the least, it would probably keep him occupied. Frankly, it was just nice to have a steady job again. And while some of the crew seemed a bit... eccentric, none of them seemed to be actually crazy.

And the ship wasn't haunted. At least, he didn't think it was. He was doing his rounds of the ship now, though, just to be sure.
