Nice girl reporting in! power_of_heart January 19 2010, 01:38:33 UTC
No one ever knocked before they entered the infirmary these days, so the older gentleman's appearance in the room didn't surprise Orihime as she looked out from the supply closet. She didn't recognize him, but with security as it was in the Wild Geese's headquarters, it was almost certainly another new crew member. Hopefully he was here to work with her in the infirmary. She had just lost her sole co-worker that morning and a replacement so soon would be excellent luck.

Now, mage or medical doctor? She could foresee possible problems with the latter, but either way, she needed to make a good first impression. "Hello, sir!" she sparkled at him, putting her notebook down. "What can I help you with today?"

Hojo stopped just inside the door and looked around the room, giving his new place of work a quick once-over. Well, it was a little... rustic, but it was satisfactory, he supposed. Then, of course, a voice from the cupboard dragged his attention away from what he had come to see and redirected it to the perky greeting from the... little girl. What was she doing in an infirmary? Perhaps she was the medical equivalent of a laboratory assistant. Well, there were a lot of potential patients on board The Fiertia, after all. Of course, the news that the old doctor had left very recently hadn't escaped his notice.

"... Who are you?" He asked, raising one eyebrow as he did. "What are you doing here?" He peered over his glasses at her, looking really quite severe.

Middle-aged, sour-faced and dressed in a very stiff and gentlemanly looking three-piece suit complete with waistcoat and pocket-watch chain, he looked a far cry from what he didn't yet know was going to be his co-worker.

my this is going to give her a wonderful excuse to ship-hop power_of_heart January 19 2010, 19:10:17 UTC
The gentleman seemed to Orihime to think he had a right to be here: definitely a replacement, and judging by his attitude, medically trained rather than magically. Dr. Kurosaki had warned her about doctors like that. "The only thing you can do is charm them with your competence, Inoue-chan!" he had told her, so charm him she would!

Thankfully she had her medical coat on and knew how to pretend to be a little dignified. "I'm Dr. Inoue, sir, senior medical staff on the Fiertia." As of six hours ago. "You're here in place of one of our recent departures?" She smiled and politely offered Hojo a hand.

Run, Orihime, run! unsoundmind January 20 2010, 03:34:22 UTC
Unfortunately for the sweet little Orihime, charm had absolutely no effect on him. If it were possible to have an accessory to ward off a 'charm' status effect, it would probably be made from his hair.

"I believe so," he replied, shaking her hand with a small degree of reluctance. "Although I wasn't aware that a member of staff had left until I signed on earlier. You may call me Dr. Hojo."

And then that comment about her position within the infirmary sunk in. Well, really. Was this ship truly that short on staff? Perhaps he had been a little optimistic, but he had expected such a large ship to have more medical staff on board than a little girl and a recently-departed doctor. Ridiculous, truly ridiculous.

"You? Senior medical staff?" He asked with something of a superior sneer. "You're only a child."
