There really was no other way to put how everything currently was other than one word: confusing. Maybe annoying too, but mostly confusing. Everything had been more of a blur to the blonde in the aftermath of what had happened to him back then - he could barely recall that it was Apollo who had found him and brought him back to the ship. But anything after that was nothing but a mad rush of shouting and yelling and the constant thump thump thump of feet all around ( ... )

"No one stopped me, if that's what you mean," he scoffed, coming forward quickly and seating himself at Kristoph's bedside. He outranked them all, apart from a few handful in the ship. He wasn't an invalid, and so the most he needed was a cold glare in the right direction.

"I am glad to see you awake and more or less well," Itou allowed himself, putting sincerity behind his words. A small form of penance. "I was worried."

"That's good to hear," Kristoph returned, clam and pleasant as he usually was. Of course, he did have a few doubts about that since the staff was quite insistent that he needed rest, but this was the Victoria II after all - more than anything, authority spoke volumes within this vessel. It was truly quite sad that he was forced back down to Lieutenant Commander thanks to what had happened... last year. He still couldn't forgive those buffoons in Parliament for doing that to him - his moment of glory shot down thanks to their incompetence ( ... )

And all that time, Itou was giving his friend a cursory stare, looking for hidden wounds apart from his bandaged throat. There weren't even bruises, everything clean apart from the throat. Bansai was a terrifying individual indeed.

To Kristoph's credit, he was taking this particularly well. The hysterical journal post aside, the other blond remained as unruffled as ever (or, mostly). Itou could have been proud, and despite himself breathed a small sigh of relief. Stepping stone or not, they did have a shared history together, however resentful Itou had been of Kristoph's achievements. Remembering was almost enough for him to reconsider using Kristoph in his plans.

"I am glad you seem better now than your journal sounded," he smiled wanly, "But tell me, my friend, what happened?"
