It had been a rather rough night, as far as Itou was concerned, what with the party and the company he had spent with after. He stood by the rails near the gangplank, smoking a rare cigarette and dazedly enjoying the breeze. They were leaving soon -- as soon as the first mate was found -- and that relieved him greatly.

Eventually, though, he noticed a blond at the foot of the ship. "Dojima," he called, peering out and down at her. "I see you're early today."

Dojima winced at the noise but smiled at the Navigator as she looked up. "When you arrive to a ship late it leaves without you." She said, making her way up the gangplank. Not that she would have had much trouble with this particular ship leaving without her, but it probably would have caused her some sort of trouble down the line.

"Did you have fun at the party?" She asked. "I think I should have had a little less fun, myself, maybe. I don't suppose you would be so kind as to tell me who I should report to, or where? Or where I could get a cup of coffee..." she said.

"I had fun," he said, only half of it a lie, and reached for her duffel bag when she was at the top with him. "On the other hand, we need to stop meeting in such high places. Hangover?"

He tossed the cigarette over the rail and started making his way into the interior of the ship. "I suppose you'll have to report to the captain himself, if the first mate is missing. As for coffee, the mess hall is the way to go."

Dojima mumbled something about him not needing to help, before releasing her duffle bag and accepting the gentlemanly gesture. "I've had worse." She said. "It'll be fine once I get myself..." she stopped talking and made a face at the rest of his information.

"The Admiral? Just my luck and I thought...wait..." genuine worry crossed her face for a second. "The mate is missing?"

Roy was just inside of the ship, doing his rounds at the hangar deck to check up on the pilots and keep spirits up. A few of the guys were bummed from the fact that they had not, as a ship, done very well during the plane races, and the alchemist was just the sort of guy who could turn any frown around with some choice words and the occasional offer of a cigarette, or a drink.

He was not hungover from the party at all. He was used to that sort of thing.

Yurika nodded to the boatswain and offered him a weary smile as she passed through, shielding her eyes from the sunlight in the hanger. "Good morning Major." she said. No one else seemed to be too caught up with protocol this morning, so Yurika did not concern herself with it overmuch either. "You're looking chipper."

"And you're looking wasted, if you don't mind me saying."

"I do mind." She said, wrinkling her nose slightly. "You shouldn't tell a girl she looks terrible." But her weary face broke into the smile again and she winked at him. "Nice last night of freedom though. Any idea where we are headed from here?"

von Karma occasionally did his own inspections-after all, he couldn't expect anyone else to do it as well as he would-and right now, chewing some people out seemed rather therapeutic. So, he was heading towards the pantry to make sure absolutely everything was in stock.

Dojima had decided that seeing the Admiral when he was upset was not in her best interest. She had knocked, very lightly on his door, then gone to her room when he did not answer. After some thought, she had decided this was too obvious a hiding place and relocated to the pantry, taking with her her trusty copy of The Forbidden Tryst. She was just setting into chapter four when she heard a noise at the door and scuttled behind a tower of tomato cans, holding her breath.

At least her hangover was gone...

von Karma paused as he opened the door and stepped into the room. He'd heard something, and hearing things moving around in the pantry was never a good sign.

"I thought my ship was too clean for rats," he muttered, rifling around in his jacket for some sort of weapon to kill the damn things with.

Yurika knew that voice. She held her breath and remained as still as possible, hoping he would leave again, praying he would leave again.

After a few seconds of silence however, Yurika's nose began to itch. She must be allergic to the Admiral, she told herself. She reached up the hold the sneeze in check, hoping it would hold until he was gone.

The coffee that he'd been served everywhere else had been deplorable, but Major Vole was happy to see that, at least here on the Victoria II, they did things properly. None of that magic-activated "instant" stuff. There were roasted beans, a coffee grinder, and all of the other odds and ends that one could need to make the perfect pot.

And so it was that the Major was applying himself industriously to coming up with a pot. He was up early, just as he should be, and right now, nothing sounded better than a good, hot cup.

Yurika sat in the mess hall, long after she had parted company with her coffee drinking buddy, contemplating the things that the officers she had met so far this morning had told her. She got up, finally, to refill her cup, her hangover finally waning, and ran smack dab into the back of a very tall man.

A very tall man with oddly colored skin....and....a very large hat.

Her coffee cup fell to the floor. Luckily, being military issue it did not break, and there was no coffee left inside. She bent to pick it up. "I'm sorry, Sir. I should watch where I am going."

Yurika was lucky. She'd caught the Major in a rare good mood. He had been surprised but pleased to find that the variety of coffee beans that the ship had available was at least similar enough to the one that he preferred to make a pleasant cup. Just the smell of the stuff was enough to perk him up, and he glanced curiously at her as she bent to pick up her mug.

"Hyu looking for zome of de goot schtuff too? Dere should be zome in a few minutes," he replied.

Yurika rose to her feet slowly, taking in his appearance and her saluting hand went to her temple.

"Just one more cup." She said, with a smile, trying to take in the man's... odd appearance without staring.

"I don't believe we've met..."

'Painful' was the only word Lelouch could describe that morning ( ... )

Yurika slid into the kitchen, envelope of paperwork in hand, as well as a novel whose cover art made it quite clear that the characters were not going to spend many scenes playing chess.

Unless "playing chess" was a euphamism...

She passed the stoves, and the counters then stopped short as she spotted a young man seated at a table to the side.

"Oh. Sorry. Hope I didn't disturb you..." she mumbled

She glanced to the pantry, her intended hiding place.

"If I went in there, just long enough to get through part one, mind you, would you tell anyone?" she asked.

At the sound of footsteps, Lelouch withdrew his hand from his face, swerving his gaze in the direction of it. A petite, young woman met his eyes, and for a moment, he paused, trying to place a face to a name ( ... )

Dojima glanced upwards in false innocence "I would never avoid anyone...." She said lightly. "I just...thought that I would find out what Phillipe and Inez have to discuss before tackling introducing myself to my new commanding officers, is all. It might me put me in a better frame of mind."

She winked, but continued, moving towards the table "Of course some polite conversation could work as well for that purpose..." Her smile faltered, however, at the change in his expression, mistaking it for his not wanting company.

"Unless you would rather I didn't."
