Ichigo had wandered down to the plane area to scope out the competition, and to check on his plane. He wasn't afraid of sabotage, not really. Ichigo wasn't one of the favorites to win, a fact that he was completely fine with. That just meant it'd be more of a shock when he left them all in the dust. He was also from a smaller ship, one that wasn't involved in the Vohemaro-Ivonan rivalry, so he didn't have to worry about zealous patriots ( ... )

Okay, enough was enough. This total stranger, who somehow knew that Ichigo could see ghosts, was asking questions. "Sorry, but I don't see that that's any of your business," Ichigo said, eyes guarded. It sure as hell didn't sound like this guy was after "nothing in partucular." He didn't know what Kensei wanted, but he did know that he wasn't cool with perceptive strangers asking questions.

He couldn't sense Kensei's hollow. One, Ichigo wasn't looking for it, and two, even if he had been, his ability to sense other people with powers was....weak at best.

Its okay. |D;; kirekaze June 23 2009, 12:43:03 UTC
So he wasn't going to respond to the question now? Well, that suit Kensei just fine - he got the information he needed already anyway. If anything, the fact that this kid had admitted that he could see spirits and ghost was enough fact that there was indeed a hollow residing the kid... whoever he was. He'd probably have to ask Gintoki after the races - and get him to keep an eye on the kid, now that he was certain of facts.

"Sorry about that," the Vaizard quickly handwaved it off and glanced to the side, considering things for the moment before he spoke again. "Well whatever the case, just be careful. The spirits can be quite troublesome at times."

Far too troublesome, to be honest.

Yeah, no shit. This guy was telling him that spirits could be troublesome? Like I need to be told that. And what was with this guy's funky way of talking about ghosts? 'The spirits'? He sounded like that Bon Cannonji freak Ichigo'd run into a few years back.

He eyed Kensei warily. "Yeah, sure," he shrugged. It felt a little like he was being talked down to, and Ichigo didn't like it, but he'd let it go this time. Wasn't worth picking a fight over. "Quit worrying about me and start worrying about the race," he advised. "You flying for anybody?"

"Yep," the silver-haired man responded as he absently scratched the back of his head - he was going to need a good shower tonight (and wash his hair good) after all of this. "Flying for the 4423, though not aimin' to win. That's what that..."

A pause. What was Reno's name again? Something twenty-one...?

"...that twenty-one guy's for." Well, something like that anyway. Kensei didn't know why the hell Reno needed to do something like this, but he wasn't going to complain. It wasn't as if anything was changing even with the codename or not.

Ichigo raised an eyebrow. If Kensei wasn't in it to compete seriously, then what was he doing in the race at all? "What, you flying for fun or something? Why'd you bother entering if you're not going to shoot for the prize?"

This Visor-21 guy rubbed Ichigo the wrong way, acting like he was some big shot just because no one knew him. Ichigo didn't think he was anything special. It was probably some kind of technique meant to stir up publicity and psych out the other racers. Plus, that rat on the network seemed really into him. No lie, Ichigo was looking forward to showing him up.

The Vaizard only shrugged, an amused sound coming from him. "Something like that, I suppose," he responded lightly. "Doubt I can win anyway, since my plane's pretty mashed up." Souji's tuning had helped a lot in making it better - at least he was sure the plane wasn't going to break down on him in the middle of the race - but his plane was still not the kind made for races. It was a fighter plane more than anything else after all.

Well, he didn't know what Reno (and Hiruma by proxy) were up to, but he wasn't complaining - it was their business what they were doing, and most certainly not his.

"'Mashed-up'?" Ichigo asked. "You mean an accident, or did someone mess with it?" He'd heard of incidents of sabotage at the race. Except for the incident with the snakes, though, no one had touched his plane. He suspected that it had something to do with the constant vigilance of his crew.

Ichigo looked Kensei's plane over again. There was nothing wrong with fighter planes, in his opinion. Ichigo would pick a plane made for fighting over a plane made for speed any day, if he weren't already married to Zangetsu.

"Well, it did get sabotaged before, but that's not what I exactly mean," Kensei responded as he scratched his head, glancing towards his plane yet again. It was kind hard not to do that when it was pretty much the product of one's own blood and sweat. "I made the plane myself from parts picked up from everywhere, so things don't run very smoothly for it." That and the fact that he was no genius in mechanics, so the man was pretty sure there were more than a few kinks that hadn't been solved until Souji fixed them a few days back.
