Wolfram stomped angrily through the dry grass, searching for a small clearing of any kind that was far enough away from the prying eyes of his crew mates. All the while he grumbled to himself, cursing the land and every memory it held for him. "Stupid Badlands... stupid brother..." He hissed as he stumbled over a rock, the contents of pack spilling out across the dirt. Gray and fading photos fluttered about, all of them with that stupid man's face on them. Angrily wolfram screamed at them and almost instantaneously the majority of the photos burst into flame.

It was the smell of smoke that had him running to the clearing. But it was the shock of blond hair and recognizable voice that had him stopping short and freezing him on the spot.

"Wolfram..."

It took Wolfram a moment for the next events to sink in. That lumbering figure through the smoke, that deep voice, all of it was too much.

"G-gwendal..." Wolfram choked, "d-don't do this again."

Gwendal silently moved his hand, sweeping grains of dirt onto the pictures and putting out the flames. He dropped his hand and closed his eyes with a heavy sigh. "I am so sorry, Wolfram."

Don't do what again? Bring you pain? Gwendal didn't intend to do so, but it looked like fate brought them together. He backed away, swiftly turning around to leave. Maybe he would just think he imagined him.

Wolfram sighed at Gwendal's grim response. "Brother, I don't know what else to say." He looked over his brother sadly, examining the changes that had occurred in the man since they last saw each other. It was true, he still looked the same as that last day.

"Where do you want to go from here?"

"I don't know," Gwendal whispered, turning his eyes back to Wolfram.

They were filled with regret, guilt, years that no human should have lived, and of years yet to come.

"I think... I would like to stay in contact with you, once the races are over and we must go back to our ships," He said softly.

Wolfram smiled softly. "Well that was a given. Don't think for a minute I'm going to let you disappear. There have been times when I've needed you, brother... now that I finally have you... I'm not going to lose you."

"No, I suppose not," Gwendal snorted softly.
