Rikku and Ichigo Plane Thread tiny_tinker_toy June 13 2009, 19:15:39 UTC
Rikku had her hair tied back in a huge bandana, and her goggles were hanging around her neck. Time to find Ichigo and work on the plane.

Maybe it would help him relax and not think about his mom, too.

"Ichigo, where are you?"

Ichigo had just finished lunch, and actually was about to go look for Rikku, too. "Hey, Rikku!" He waved cheerfully. He definitely wanted to work on the plane. It was simple, mechanical, and took all of his attention.

"You up for some work on Zangetsu?"

Rikku had to stop when Ichigo responded cheerfully. That...that was not at all normal.

"Uh, yeah! Come on, I got some good parts!"

"Great! Let's go!" He was definitely eager to get down there, and not just because of the fake cheer, either. He walked down towards the makeshift-hangar, hands in his pockets.

"What've you got?" he asked.

[Top Deck - Sunset] a_darkseraphim June 13 2009, 19:55:55 UTC
Toiling away working feverishly all over the ship reinstalling new walls and floors, Yuri decided to take some time off to just enjoy the rest of his day. It was early evening and he was already horribly exhausted. Even though transforming in and out of his various forms did help get the work done faster, the harmonixer was now suffering from one seriously bad migraine from it. Perhaps being a lazy bone about work and making Libertis and Fides do most of the chore wasn't a good idea.

"Man, I am frickin beat!" He grumbled as he sat down along the side of the railing. Wiping the sweat off his brow, Yuri gazed out towards the horizon. It was still kind of sunny out even now that the sun was settling behind the mountains now. The sky was a mesh of bright orange and red hues and the clouds seemed to be tinted with a little bit of a tomato-like hue.

"Its pretty out here..." Yuri murmured to himself even though it was not too long ago that he was announcing his hate for the Badlands.

Ichigo had been approaching the railing anyway, and was close enough to hear Yuri's last statement. He'd been working on Zangetsu most of the day, and his hands were still streaked with grease. He was also fairly relaxed, as long as his mind was still on the plane, at least.

But he didn't have mechanics to focus on right now. Instead, there was just the sunset. It was pretty, he thought. It was something he was here to see, because --

No. He'd stop that train of thought right there. Still, it was enough to tense him up again.

"Yeah, I guess so," he replied, shrugging.

"Huh?" Glancing over his shoulder once he heard someone answer him, the shipwright was a little surprise to see Ichigo there. "What's up, carrot-top?" Yuri asked with a slight smirk. Being friendly is definitely not his strong point.

“What are you doing up here? Don’t you have a race to get ready for?” He asked in his usual nonchalant tone. Unlike everyone else upon the ship, the moody shipwright really didn’t care if Ichigo won or lost the race. Yuri was going to find some way to sabotage that ship but after seeing how steep the competition will be, he decided that there would be no need for him to do so. As much as everyone else had faith in Ichigo’s flying, Yuri had none and this works out well since he is betting against the Winding Way in the first place.

“You must be feeling confident or something…”

"Hey." Ichigo didn't turn to look at Yuri, instead staring out at the sunset. He didn't want to be social right now, but he also didn't want a fight. "I can handle it, don't worry."

He smiled. For all appearances, Ichigo was just in a cheerful mood.

He didn't ask what Yuri was doing up here.

Maybe it would be better to sit up in the crow's nest. He liked it better up there, and then he could watch the sunset in peace, without having to deal with people who set him even more on edge than he already was.

[Top Deck - Most likely hanging from a rope or something] treesurfer June 13 2009, 22:11:24 UTC
Tarzan had been watching everyone on this ship. He did know everyone's names, but he liked to observe.

And what he observed was a man who flew a metal aircraft, was a generally quiet guy unless provoked, and right now, he was very, very happy. But his body language, his movements, spoke of something else.

Tarzan dropped from a rope, grabbing another, swinging down until he was on the very edge of the deck. It also happened to be directly in front of Ichigo. "You are stiff."

"Whoa!" Ichigo took a step back -- he hadn't been expecting someone to drop in like that. "Wait, are you the guy we picked up on Kagatau?" He'd heard a rumor about a wild-man on the ship. He stared in curiosity.

"And what do you mean?" What was he talking about? Ichigo was fine. He'd worked hard at giving off the unmistakable impression of being fine.

Kagatou was the island they had given his him. He nodded. "I am."

He stayed crouched, watching Ichigo. This boy was bad at lying. He could hear the cheerfulness, the way it was a bit over the top but almost genuine too. But it was his body that gave him away. "You. Are stiff." He tried to look for another word. Maybe Ichigo would understand it if he used a different one. "...tense."

The human language was complicated.

"What? No, I'm not--" Sheesh, how could this guy tell? It was almost enough to break Ichigo's act, being called on it so directly.

But not quite.

"No, I'm fine. Really." And there came the smile again. "Nice to meet you."

[BUGGING YOU WHILE EATING... LUNCH!] fatherofcute June 14 2009, 05:00:38 UTC
Hughes was a fussy man by nature, even though people usually didn't notice this aspect of his due to his tendency to laugh everything off and wander about without apparent purpose. So when he decided to bug Ichigo, it all appeared pretty random, though he'd been eyeing the boy since he got his tray of food.

"Yo, Ichigo!" he greeted with a beam, coming up from Ichigo's front with a tray of odd bits and ends of food on it. There were no sweets, though.

Ichigo turned to face Hughes, giving him a bright smile. "'Afternoon, Hughes!" he greeted. "What's up?"

He was only halfway through his own lunch, which was delicious, as usual. Ichigo barely tasted the food, though, eating mechanically.

Hughes did a full stop, stared. Stared some more. Well, wasn't Ichigo... oddly, freakishly cheerful today.

Still, he kept his own cheer up. "Afternoon! Food good? Can I sit here?"

"Don't see why not," Ichigo replied. "Food's great. The cooks here are incredible." He was practically sparkling at Hughes. "How's everything going?"

It was almost creepy, how cheerful Ichigo was. This was because he didn't want Hughes asking questions about it, and the whole family business unsettled him. Why did this guy look so damn much like his dad?

Ilya's shift had ended and thus she set out to find Ichigo. Something was bugging her about his last entry. He told her it was nothing she had to worry about but...the nagging feeling in her head was telling her otherwise. She was reminded of something, but she couldn't put her finger on what that something was.

Either way she wasn't going to take "Don't worry about it" as an answer and she set off down the halls, eyes peeled for the familiar orange head.

Ichigo was heading for the dining hall when he spotted a familiar, diminutive figure down the hall. He stopped, wondering if it would be best to turn back now and avoid Ilya altogether.

He took a step back. Had she already spotted him? Maybe if she hadn't seen him, he could take off and get lunch later.

At first, Ilya didn't see him at all. But then she caught him out of the corner of her eye as he took a step back. She pouted a little-he wasn't going to try and run off and avid her was he?-before walking towards him.

"Onii-chan!" she called out, making absolute sure he knew she'd seen him.

Oh, here it comes. Well, he'd just have to put his best face on for now, right?

"Hey, Ilya!" he greeted with a wave, smiling brightly at her. "'Morning!" Or was it afternoon now? Oh, well, it was late morning, anyway. Late enough for him to be hungry for lunch.
