Tarzan had been watching everyone on this ship. He did know everyone's names, but he liked to observe.

And what he observed was a man who flew a metal aircraft, was a generally quiet guy unless provoked, and right now, he was very, very happy. But his body language, his movements, spoke of something else.

Tarzan dropped from a rope, grabbing another, swinging down until he was on the very edge of the deck. It also happened to be directly in front of Ichigo. "You are stiff."

"Whoa!" Ichigo took a step back -- he hadn't been expecting someone to drop in like that. "Wait, are you the guy we picked up on Kagatau?" He'd heard a rumor about a wild-man on the ship. He stared in curiosity.

"And what do you mean?" What was he talking about? Ichigo was fine. He'd worked hard at giving off the unmistakable impression of being fine.

Kagatou was the island they had given his him. He nodded. "I am."

He stayed crouched, watching Ichigo. This boy was bad at lying. He could hear the cheerfulness, the way it was a bit over the top but almost genuine too. But it was his body that gave him away. "You. Are stiff." He tried to look for another word. Maybe Ichigo would understand it if he used a different one. "...tense."

The human language was complicated.

"What? No, I'm not--" Sheesh, how could this guy tell? It was almost enough to break Ichigo's act, being called on it so directly.

But not quite.

"No, I'm fine. Really." And there came the smile again. "Nice to meet you."

Tarzan tilted his head. Why was Ichigo denying it? "Not fine. You are stiff. Why?"

Damn it, what was with this guy? How did he know so definitely?

Ichigo shrugged. "Look, it's been great talking to you, but I really have no idea what you mean. I'll see you around, okay?"

He didn't want to talk about this. If Tarzan kept asking questions.... It'd be better to leave.

But Tarzan just looked at him with big blue eyes. "You do. But don't talk. I see. Watch."

Tarzan didn't know the concept of backing off, but it was instinct to investigate.

It was unsettling, to say the least. Could this guy....read body language, somehow? How the hell could he read body language if he'd spent his whole life in a jungle? From the sounds of it, he could barely talk a human language!

Ichigo took a step back. He didn't want a confrontation, not today, but he also didn't want the reason behind his tension pried into by a total stranger. "How about you watch someone else, okay?"

"But you are stiff. Someone else is not stiff," Tarzan said.

He could read body language because that was what he did when he observed animals, humans were no different. He could imitate animals through observation and the months on this flying ship let him read humans too.

"It's nothing," Ichigo told him. Was there really any more point in lying? Ichigo was good at denial, but only when someone would listen to sense. "Look, I don't want to talk about it. Okay? So would you keep your weird mind-reading over there?"

Tarzan understood that at least. But then he tilted his head. "What is mind-reading?"

"....never mind." Ichigo didn't want to take the time to explain it. This guy was weird. Seriously weird.

"You have a name?" At least, he hoped this guy did. He might not, if he'd been living in Kagatau.

Tarzan slipped off the rail and stood tall, without crouching. "Tarzan. I am called Tarzan. You?"

Whoa, this guy was tall when he stood up straight. "Uh....Ichigo. My name's Ichigo. Nice to meet you." He smiled again, tensing up. All this small talk was a real effort.

What was there to talk about with this guy, anyway? Maybe Ichigo'd go back and talk to him later, when there wasn't so much on his mind. He couldn't deny a bit of curiosity about this Tarzan, but....not now, not with so much going on.

There was that stiffness again. Tarzan could see it. But the boy insisted he was fine and did not want to talk about it. So what else could Tarzan do? He had pushed before but got nowhere. Should he continue to push?

Probably not.

"Talk later," He finally said. He only hoped Ichigo would talk to him later. Tarzan liked to meet people, after all. He jumped high up and grabbed a rope line, hauling himself up and to another, back to his post up high. Observing the ship once more.

Ichigo watched him swing up, impressed and more than a little weirded out by Tarzan's agility. What a strange guy, he thought. He wouldn't mind talking to Tarzan later, sometime when he had less on his mind for the guy to be eerily perceptive about.

He turned and walked away, heading down to the lower decks. With any luck, no one would be in the makeshift hangar, and he could get some work done.
