Letting out a disgruntled huff, Ciel looked up from his desk and peered at the door. Who could be visiting him? Pushing his work away, he rose and walked to the door. He was unused to doing what he considered "servant's work", but there was no use in complaining.

Grabbing his cane in case he required a weapon, he opened the door cautiously.

"Yes?" he peered outside, "What do you want?"

So he wasn't as hospitable as he probably should have been, but this person had interrupted him.

The disgruntled tone of the boy who answered the door had taken Near by surprise initially. He had expected a noble to have much better manners. However, there was no doubt that the short boy was the Phantomhive heir. His appearance, particularly the distinctive eye patch, was a give-away to anyone.

Ignoring the mild hostility, Near replied ,"My name is Near. I believe that I have made arrangements over the network to meet with Ciel Phantomhive."

Even if he was certain that he was speaking with the Ciel Phantomhive, he had no intention of agitating him any further.
