Well I said I wanted to log with Souji sooooo... coyotealpha March 21 2009, 01:33:22 UTC
Compared to the 4423, the Fiertia was... much more quieter to what Pip had gotten used to in the past few months. Not that he minded though - sometimes quiet was good, but in times like these the mercenary couldn't help but think of the commotion that would always hang around the pirate ship. After so long, well... their presence did kind of stick onto him.

And it was kind of missed, if the brunette had to admit truthfully.

Bored and nothing much to do (which was good, since at least the crew wasn't out to lynch him anytime soon), the man had taken to wandering around the ship and trying to remember its layout when he had reached the helm. Surprisingly, the place wasn't that all quiet, if the music playing was of any indication. Pip blinked once, twice in slight surprise at the music, before despite himself raised a hand to knock gently at one of the walls to alert the stationed helmsmen there. "Anyone zere?"

At the sounds of knocking, Souji turned, one hand still resting on the wheel. The accent was one he didn't recognize... but there was also a lot of crewmen he had yet to meet.

But when he looked the man over, he DID recognize him, though they had only spoken over the Network. The helmsman smiled, turning around fully and pressing his back to the wheel in a relaxed fashion.

"Mr. Pip. Nice to meet you face-to-face finally." he didn't say who he was, just watching the older man with a curious expression.

Assuming that it was alright for him to enter, Pip lowered his hand and entered the helm, blinking as the helmsmen apparently seemed to recognize him. The brunette stared for a but as the other turned around, sliver hair falling over alert grey-ish eyes that studied him like a cat would do to its prey. It could be just a trick of his head though - the setting sun made things kind of hard to see with its huge contrasting shadows.

"A-Ah, nice to meet you too..." the man returned the greeting, though he was still at a complete loss as to who the helmsman was. Face to face? that meant that they had spoken over the journals now... though he had spoken to quite a lot of people over these things, so that didn't help exactly. "'ope you don't mind me askin', but who are you again? I don't remember havin' met you before." Though the voice did sound familiar... Pip just couldn't place where he had heard it before.

Souji laughed lightly, pushing off the wheel and strolling towards Pip, that smile still on his face. He wasn't insulted in the least, after all he had been purposely obtuse.

He didn't question himself on why he played these little games. It was just something he did. It had started at his parents dinner parties, cutting into those guests with his tongue and eyes. It had given him a kind of sinful satisfaction, but nowadays it was just habit. A bitter tinge hit his smile for just a second, there and gone as he held his hand out to shake.

"Souji Seta. I was one decrying your execution. Though I guess it was more me trying to make up for teasing you and Mr. Greed then anything."

THIS IS YOUR CAPTAIN SPEAK- ok more like slouching whatever lustrolupo March 21 2009, 03:34:48 UTC
Since the Amicus thieves had been captured (and more importantly, their bounty paid), the Fiertia had been blissfully quiet. Or, well, the crew had been less violent and Yuri was willing to take the small victories. Still, the daytime was always hectic, even if they were just coasting towards the Badlands, and it was only in the evenings that the decks began to clear out as the crew wound their way below deck.

Yuri, however, usually stayed above a while longer, if only to check up on the ship and watch the gradually dimming horizon. He eventually wandered up towards the helm - best view on the decks, after all - and was moderately surprised to find someone actually up and steering.

"Hey," he said, climbing the short stairs, "couldn't find a cabin boy to foist things off on?" For once, Repede was down below, likely getting free snacks from the mess.

The helmsman turned, arching a brow and pleasantly surprised to see the Captain standing there. He hadn't really talked with the man since the last mission he had been on, when the two had been on the same team. It had been an... interesting experience.

"Captain." He replied, smiling. "I could have, but I like the work. Quiet."

Yuri smirked a bit and shifted into a more comfortable contrapasto. "It's a bit of a rarity around here, I'll give you that."

From what little they'd interacted, Yuri had the feeling Souji had a good head on his shoulders. If nothing else, he'd not flipped out about the Greed and Pip issue and for that, the Captain was thankful. It was nice to know someone else aboard had similar ideas about trust. "All quiet on the western front, I guess?"

"So far, so good." Souji said, keeping a hand on the wheel, but focusing on Yuri. "Except for the few birds that got in the way." The helmsman's voice, always so calm and low, made it rather hard some times to tell if he was joking... And his expression did nothing to help. Just the same cocktail party smile.

Kamina had tried to keep his attention on the broken chair in his room. Really, he had. There was just so much to take in and the entire ship was so new to him...and a man always had to be aware of their surroundings, right? The chair could wait. He wandered the ship, enjoying the waning sunlight bouncing off the water droplets in the rolling clouds around them. Maybe he'd take a seat near the helm and watch the sunset in quiet. That was when he heard the music.

Curious, he made his way up the steps and once in the wheelroom, he poked at the device broadcasting the music. "Didn't know these things did this too."

Souji watched the man walk over and poke his journal, his head titled to one side. While most may have gotten upset at his boldness, Souji just found it amusing.

"Yes. There are a few stations you can pick up with them. Radio dramas too." He stepped away from the wheel to keep a better eye on the man. If he was just curious, that was fine. But if he started poking around his jounral, he would have to step in.

"Cool! All I gotta do is fix mine up an' it'll be like a radio!" His grin was wide. Maybe he'd go down to the radio room and look for a few spare parts to make it a proper machine. Kamina left off examining the journal to stretch his long arms above his head. Soothing music can make the most hardy men incredibly sleepy. "Where's everybody else at?"

A nod, and Souji had to admit he liked the man's enthusiasm. It was endearing. Reminded him of certain folks back home.

"This time of day... night? Mostly in quarters or the common areas, dozing off dinner. Not much else to do when we're coasting like this."

Being a radio ops on the Fiertia really wasn't a tedious sort of job. The network always held an interesting piece of news or information, all of which Shion either stored in her head or discarded later. Yet, when the sky began to darken and evening approached, everything settled, the pace slowing until it was nearly non-existent. Everyone had to eat dinner or engage in some other activity now and then. However, it was during that moment her job gave her no other duty to handle. Left with a choice of either blankly staring at her journal - waiting for a worthwhile entry to appear - or doing something other - coming back to see the aforementioned worthwhile entry later - she promptly selected the latter.

As such, Shion found herself wandering the airship, an aimless meandering that led her near the helm. She wasn't intending to enter...until she caught the sound of music, playing softly throughout the area. Shifting towards the direction of it, she could feel a small smile play across her lips. The helmsman. Souji Seta was his ( ... )

When Shion's hand fell on his shoulder, Souji's entire body stiffened, becoming taunt like a spring. A tiny gasp escaped him, and while he didn't jump or spin around, there was a sure show of surprise, especially considering the fact that one hand had quickly slipped from the wheel to his side, as if looking for a gun or perhaps a blade. None was there. In fact his sword was off to the side of the wheel, in it's scabbard. Nice and safe.

But once he heard her voice he relaxed, looking over his shoulder. His eyes were wider then normal, and there was a twitch to them that spoke of adrenaline among other things.

"A-ah... Mion. You scared me." He smile, though it didn't reach his ears. "Not much, just the sky..."

Souji's reaction was exactly what she wanted. He was most definitely startled, even if his words sounded relatively calm. Letting out a small giggle, her free hand briefly hovering over her mouth as if to repress it, her eyebrows then drew together as if to express sympathy.

"Oh, I'm sorry, Souji," Shion stated, sounding apologetic for having 'accidentally' suprised him and for being unable to contain a chuckle. "I didn't mean to scare you." She gave him a warm, reassuring smile as her gaze briefly glanced towards the sky he mentioned watching. "Must be something really interesting out there, if you didn't hear me enter..."

She placed her other hand on his right shoulder, giving them a small squeeze. "Either that, or you're really tense." She sent him a wink, giving a playful giggle once more.

The helmsman laughed lightly, his voice soft.

"It's not a problem, my mind was far away..." He smiled at her hand on his shoulder. He too was a handsy person, and touch calmed his nerves a little. "I'm usually more alert then this, but the sky is so nice tonight..."

Fiddling with the maps and papers he held in one hand, Near quietly shuffled down the length of the ship towards the helm. His new job required him to regularly send maps and charts to the helmsman, and as much as he did not enjoy being pulled away from the security of his room, it was an opportune time to explore the ship.

The helmsman was leaning against the wheel when Near approached. His journal was propped up on one side, being the apparent source of the music that filled the air then. Making his footsteps a little more apparent over the music, Near moved towards the helmsman.

"I believe you would be needing these maps."

Said helmsman turned, looking a little surprised. He had learned he had a new co-worker, but he hadn't gotten around to greeting him. And he hadn't expected him to be so young... He wasn't going to say anything though. Reial was full of child genius' after all. He wasn't one to judge.

"Hmm.. Thank you...?" He left the question open, hoping to have a name offered, if nothing else.

Near wondered if the pause meant that the helmsman wanted something more from him. Probably a name, considering that Near had yet to introduce himself to the other teenager even though they were working together. The only time Near had noticed the other was on the network.

"My name is Near. Pleased to meet you," Near said, uncomfortably noting to himself the stark differences in their height as he looked up at the taller boy.
