"You don't know?" Kurumi appeared behind him with a bucket of white rose petals in her arms. She'd been stocking up on flowers and dye for the past few days, taking advantage of the holiday. "First you're scared of Long Night and now this. Did nobody else live where you were?"

Shido turned, hiding a little start that someone had managed to sneak up on him while he was thinking. He eyed Milk's rose petals with a hint of dubiousness, guessing exactly what she was going to do with them, but didn't comment.

Instead he said in a slightly sour tone, "They did, but everyone I knew had a lot more to worry about than...this." He waved a hand at nothing in particular, eyes narrowing suspiciously. Well, she wasn't his first choice (no one was, actually) but maybe she could at least give a straight answer to the question. "So what is it?"

"I thought Bellcius was bigger," she shrugged, hoping that she remembered correctly where he'd said he was from. "It's a holiday about love and relationships! You give flowers to people, and whichever one you pick means something, like "I love you" or "You're stupid" or "I'm going to stay with you forever" or anything you want, really."

Oh no, the girl had more rose petals, Sophie noted with a keen eye, changing direction for them. Sophie was never one to miss a good argument, after all. "I guess I know what flower you're planning on giving everyone for Amicus," Sophie stated dryly as she approached.

[Hey, let me know if this is okay--otherwise you can kick me out, I don't mind |D]

It was shopping time! Wolf had so much to do before Amicus and less time to do it in. He strode across the deck towards the boarding plank, humming to himself, and barely noticing Shido until he spoke. Wolf froze at the top of the plank and turned his head curiously. Uh oh, sounded like someone was having Amicus Blues.

He bounded over to where Shido stood, probably unaware of just how much his high energy level wasn't going to help. "Oh, probably just some holiday created by the candy companies to con more money out of clueless, sappy people." He leaned against the railing facing Shido. "Although that doesn't mean I'm not going to take advantage of the mood it seems to put everyone in, especially that of a certain lady."

Wolf's explanation actually seemed to make a lot more sense, at least to Shido's cynical way of thinking, although the man's enthusiam seemed a clear sign that he'd been infected by the same affliction that had been going around the ship.

"Certain lady?" he repeated, dubious. He didn't get out much, nor did he listen to the ship's gossip although he supposed that Wolf did tend to gravitate about that one girl...

"Of course!" He winked. "If you're going to celebrate Amicus right you gotta have a certain someone to spoil and shower with gifts and affection."

Suddenly his energy level seemed to drop slightly, his demeanor calming and his voice was noticeably quieter. "It's uh... also a time of year that many choose to propose marriage to their sweetheart." Wolf turned to gaze out over the cityscape of Kropmork, smiling lightheartedly to himself.

Shido didn't have any such person in his life, but then again, he wasn't all that interested in celebrating the holiday; especially not if it meant acting like a love-struck idiot like certain other members of the crew.

Wolf's admittance, however, made him blink. While marriage wasn't exactly a familiar concept, his clan had once had its own courtship rituals and bonding ceremonies. He assumed it was a simmilar principal.

"Do you think she'll say yes?" He wasn't quite sure what prompted him to ask, excapt maybe distant curiosity. After all, Wolf was in some ways more animal than human much like Shido himself. He was surprised that the man had found someone he was so devoted to that he apparently wanted to mate for life.

OH GOD; SORRY! FASHIONABLY LATE? natureswhispers February 27 2009, 03:59:31 UTC
Aeris just happened to be one of the many people who was really feeling the Amicus spirit. Or perhaps had to do with the fact she had just turned twenty two days ago. Or maybe it was just simply because she was, well, Aeris. The young Cetra wasn't very often a sad person, and even when she had her moments she quickly picked herself up. Nah. It wasn't that she forgot or ignored things, but she knew better than to agonize over everything, especially if she had no control over them.

Needless to say when she spotted Shido, she began to approach him with a bounce in her step and a grin on her face. Never a bad thing to meet another one of her members, and he seemed to be rather irritated by something and so it was her vow now to do what she could to at least lessen that irritation.

"Hello there! Don't believe we've met." she said cheerily, sliding next to him.

BETTER LATE THAN NEVER. 8D beastmimicry February 28 2009, 01:17:26 UTC
Oh god. It was one of them. He recognised the signs of the holiday infection immedietly and subtly tried to shift away, looking far more wary than was probably warranted by a girl who barely came up to his chin wearing such a harmless looking shade of pink. Emishi would probably have laughed at him.

"No," he agreed, scrutinising her more thoroughly. Most of the work he did around the ship, he did on his own, and specifically picked his meal times for when the kitchen would be mostly empty. He didn't exactly go out of his way to socialise with the crew. Still, for the moment he was cornered, and even though he wasn't sure he wanted to encourage her her piercing gaze prompted him to at least offer his name. "Shido Fuyuki. You?"

"Trisha Gast!" She freed one of her hands which were wrapped around a bunch of herbs and held it out to him, "pleasure to meet you." It was becoming easier and easier to say that name now. When she had first boarded the Winding Way she had always had to be cautious of what she said, but by this point it almost did feel like her real name.

Shido's discomfort didn't escape her, she was more perceptive than people seemed to give her credit for, but she did not let that deter her. In fact it made her eyes crinkle in slight mirth, it reminded her a little bit of Neku. Coming from Kropmork she was a little more than slightly accustomed to the loners.

"You've been here a while?"

God he hopes not. That much smiling would make his face hurt. @_@ beastmimicry March 2 2009, 11:34:52 UTC
Damnit, it looked like she wanted more than just a casual hello. He would have turned up the glare a little to see if he could scare her off, but he was distracted by the herbs she had in her hand. Shido knew a little about various natural remedies - his tribe had rejected modern medicines and most forms of magic - and the one she was holding seemed to push for his attention with its familiarity. He had a feeling he'd learned its name years ago, but he couldn't think of it now.

“A couple of months, I guess. Since before the bombings.” Shido wasn't all that good with dates or time, but something like that was hard to forget. “It's a nicer place to work than some.”

He'd never willingly admit he might have gotten a little attached to the place. If pressed he'd say it was only because the crew needed a few more sane members to balance out the eccentric ones.
