Up on the 4423's top deck, Komachi was at a loose end. Swinging on the rail and looking out over the docks, she contemplated going in search of someone to play with, but was a little nervous of interrupting anyone who was actually working. Maybe someone would let her help them? It wouldn't do to never have anything to be doing...

She looked out towards the town centre: it was a nice day, and it would be a good time for a trip off the ship. But again, she'd have to find someone to go with her - she'd learnt her lesson about wandering off into strange cities on her own. She sighed, resting her chin on her hand and staring down at the docks.

There didn't seem to be too many people around, just a few dock workers and - wow, that was a pretty lady! She had pink hair! Just that was enough to render her interesting to the bored little girl, who kept her eye on the strange woman as she made her way across the docks. She looked a little lost, like she didn't know where she was going. Maybe this was someone Komachi could help out ( ... )

It took a moment before Utena realized the little voice had been calling out to her. She looked up, blinking a little in the afternoon sunlight, and tried to pinpoint where the sound had come from until she caught sight of the small child up on the rails of one of the ships, looking right at her.

"Who, me?" she asked, then smiled, scratching the back of her head a little bit sheepishly.

Maybe the girl would know which of all these ships was the one she was looking for. It couldn't hurt to ask, right? "I'm trying to find the 4423. Have you heard of it?"

Seeing the woman look up, Komachi waved at her, grinning. She nodded enthusiastically at the older girl's 'who, me?', leaning a little further out over the rail to get a better look at her.

At Utena's second question, she smiled a little wider. So she had done the right thing, calling out to her!
"Sure I have! It's this one right here!" She waved a hand around behind her in a vaguely expansive gesture taking in the whole of the ship. "Are you looking for anyone specially, miss?"

Utena blinked in surprise, then smiled warmly. Well, that was a stroke of luck! And here she'd been starting to think she'd be wandering around the docks forever... She glanced away from the little child long enough to find the boarding ramp, and headed in its direction.

"Actually," she replied as she walked over, "I'm looking for the first mate. I think the guy said her name was Vinry or something?"

After putting on his spiffiest set of clothing, replete with embroidery and sharp objects, Dimo made his way up from his room to the deck of the 4423. It was a clear day today, and he looked up at the sky, holding a hand out hopefully. When it stayed dry, he grinned. No rain, at least. The deck was hell to walk across when it was wet and slippery, even with good balance like he had.

He noticed an unfamiliar young woman with pink hair standing at the dock near the ship's gangplank. She was talking with Komachi, and though he didn't want to interrupt, he thought that this might be the same young woman that he'd directed to the ship earlier. Dimo called out over the railing, "Iz hyu Miss Utena? Ve's been expecting hyu."

That thick accent was familiar to Utena's ears after the short conversation they'd had over the journals, and she glanced over immediately at the sound of her name.

"Yeah, I am. Are you Dimo?" she asked, though she wasn't really sure who else it could have been with a voice like that. She hadn't been expecting a demihuman--hadn't really met that many of them before-- but Utena was a fairly open-minded person, and not bothered by his appearance. She smiled up at him. "Thanks a lot for telling me about this ship."

Komachi looked around in surprise as Dimo spoke, spinning around to see who it was, and before turning back to Utena.
"Your name's Utena? That's a pretty name!" It sounded like Dimo and Utena had spoken before, but Komachi had seen her first, and she wasn't going to shut up and let the first interesting thing she'd seen all day start forget about her.

Laughing gently at the little girl's comment, Dimo strode down the gangplank to meet Utena. From the clothing that she wore and her easy, carefree manner, Dimo guessed that she wasn't from Colvus or the surrounding countryside. She wasn't the type to be a runaway farmer's daughter, or something else of the sort.

"Hyu's not from around here, iz hyu?" Dimo asked. He was fairly certain of the answer already, but wanted to see what the newcomer said. After Miss Anthy and her mysterious past, he was getting used to women who didn't want to talk about where they'd been. It was par for the course for pirates and mercenaries, anyhow. If you didn't like where you'd been, you made something up, and left your past behind you. Grinning, he tipped his hat to Utena, gesturing with one hand to indicate that she should come aboard. "I iz sure ve can find Miss Vinry for hyu real qvick-like."
