The ceremony had gone well enough, at least. Only one name had been considerably mangled, and... Ffamran Bunansa was somewhat obscure anyway. Not obscure enough that it counted as an excuse, of course. However, von Karma was... miffed.

It was probably because of that damned BlueCorp thing. Not that von Karma would've been sad to see it go-he was sure that there was no possible way they could get anything on him, but the possibility was always... unnerving. Leblanc was likely at fault. Even after he'd been rather convincingly accused of murder, von Karma didn't think he'd go down without some sort of fight.

He sighed as he walked into the room, looking for the nearest corner and almost seeming unaware that he was accompanied.

Medusa followed von Karma by a step or so, causing more than a couple of heads to turn. Contrary to most of the attendees, who, both male and female, were in their dress uniforms, she had chosen to wear something less...military: a backless, black tube dress. For starts, she preferred not to wear the military uniform, as it was too bulky and rigid for her tastes; for two, it would provide a gentle jab at von Karma, who had insisted she attend with him; finally, it might catch the eye of one Ffamran Bunansa - how had the announcer mangled the name so? - who had been avoiding her since they last talked.

Taking a glass of champagne from a passing server, she glided into place next to the Admiral in his chosen corner. Between periodic sips of her drink, she watched people mingle.

"Fascinating things, these parties. There is so much you can learn from them."

von Karma's eye narrowed as Medusa drew near. He didn't-well, he did have some idea of what she was wearing, but he certainly didn't approve.

"I suppose," said von Karma, looking in no particular direction. "Unfortunately, my dislike for them outweighs their merits."

Medusa quirked an eyebrow. "Really? Perhaps you're not trying hard enough to get something out of them, then. So many tiny little nuggets of information, you can never tell which will pan out to something much, much larger."

She sipped at her drink. "I'd have thought that you, of all people, would be more concerned on keeping tabs on your crew." Her comment could be taken as an insult, of sorts, but her tone - approving, i not appreciative - marked it as not being intended that way.

Unlike some of the other party guests, Katsura had actually dutifully attended the promotion ceremony, as much as the whole thing rubbed him the wrong way, for a variety of reasons. It was, however, good strategy to be seen at these sorts of things, especially if he ever wanted to work his way into a higher position of power--one that might eventually help him achieve his goals.

He'd dressed impeccably, if not lavishly. He disdained that sort of foppery as wasteful and self-indulgent, preferring a sort of understated elegance that was never-the-less fitting of his rank. He wanted to remain low-key, and was doing his best to blend with the crowd, passing pleasantries while he kept an eye on who was in attendance, who was talking to who. These sorts of events were always terribly informative, in his experience.

Much like von Karma, Wright's hijinks left Edgeworth in a sour mood. Not only did that idiot indulge his suicide wish publicly, but he had to drag the ship into it...the same ship he had deceived ever since he escaped from Claiborne. Well, he thought bitterly, as he grabbed a glass of wine, At least I know the real reason he stayed on board. The Victoria II was a common target of stories, both valid and scandalous, and what better way to get information than to travel amongst its crew? Edgeworth took a long sip to drown out that thought ( ... )

Katsura had been letting his gaze drift idly around the room, holding a glass of wine he had no real intention of drinking (alcohol had its place, but he didn't really feel that this was one of those times) and generally making a mental list of things that would probably go into one of the many long and rambling tirades he tended to send home to his father whenever he found the free time.

And then he caught sight of the Commander. He hadn't yet had a chance to talk to the man, but he'd heard good things about him... and it couldn't hurt his prospect anyway to make nice with him, as much as he usually detested small talk. Luckily, he had a ready topic at hand... those newspaper articles had certainly been interesting, after all.

"Commander," he greeted pleasantly. "A very nice ceremony today, don't you think? A shame it's going to be overshadowed by this poor publicity." Truthfully, he was rather glad someone was willing to go to the effort of uncovering this sort of mess, but he was trying to be diplomatic, for once.

Edgeworth was about to walk away, when Katsura had approached him. Fantastic, now he would have to make conversation. He managed to keep a neutral expression on his face, until he mentioned the papers. His eyes narrowed slightly, and the lines around his mouth tensed before he spoke.

"Quite," he said, his voice now dark. Edgeworth tapped a finger against the wineglass, and contemplated drinking some more. He decided against it, in lieu of conversation. "However, if it wasn't that, I'm sure it would have been something else." As much as he loathed to admit it, it could always get worse.

Delita despised these kinds of get-togethers with a passion. The pasted on fakery hit nearly all of his buttons, and he had to use a good amount of his detachment to not simply leave.

But if there was one thing he could do, and do well, it was keep his cards close to his chest. His face was only vaguely amused as he stood near the drink table, sipping wine and glancing around the room. The dark blue suit on his form was surprisingly well fitting, considering where it came from, though the cloak he wore instead of the classic jacket added an elegant archaic look. He couldn't have managed a better appearance if he had gone to a tailor and actually TRIED.

Delita was hardly the only one at the drink table. Party guests came and went, and some merely stayed long enough to choose a beverage while others lingered behind. One of these was a rather large fellow, who seemed to have more resemblance to a gorilla than the common man. Regardless, the formal wear he wore fit him well, and had enough class to make one suspect someone else chose it out for him. He stood next to Delita, and glanced over at him as he sipped his wine.

"Nice suit," he grunted, in a rough, gruff voice.

Delita looked up... and up. He did not recognize the man in any way, and so he assumed he was not a crewman of the Victoria. But there were other military personal at this party, so that was nothing odd.

But right now, he was in a sharp mood. And so he didn't bother with pleasantries.

"My thanks. I only wish I could say the same."

The stranger glared down at Delita, and small, hairline cracks formed in his wineglass as his squeezed it tight. "I'd watch my mouth if I was you," he growled out. "This is a nice party, see? You gotta have some manners."

Seras stood shyly at the entrance to the foyer as she waited for Lelouch. The girl had never attended such an event before, and needless to say, she felt like a fool trying to fit in with those who were obviously of a much higher class than herself.

Yet, despite how she felt, she actually looked the part. Sure, it had taken a while, but she managed to tame her oddly spikey hair into a pleasant shape. Her dress was a simple pale yellow thing, it matched her hair nicely and she complimented it with a necklace that did wonders to hide a certain pair of scars on her neck.

In her great desire to come completely prepared she'd even found herself an escort. Lelouch Lamperouge was a gentleman, and if she didn't impress the others, she was sure at least he would.

The only thing that really set her apart from the rest of the crowd was her highly unusual donning of sunglasses. At night.

It was getting dark outside and from this, he knew that he was indeed, late. Lelouch was worried about making the lady wait especially when it was him who invited her in the first place. He rushed in and as he entered, the sight of people in elegant dresses and suits welcomed him ( ... )

Keeping an eye out for him, Seras lowered her glasses just a bit further down the bridge of her nose to possibly get a better look at the place. Eventually she gave a soft sigh, wondering wherever he could be-That is until a voice from behind her very suddenly intruded upon her thoughts ( ... )

Lelouch chuckled as the lady tried to catch her sunglasses upon startling her. She was stunning that evening what more, she seemed like a fun person to be with. He knew she was trying to be prim and proper as a courtesy in every party but she wasn't a charlatan trying hard to transform in to a another person in a snap of the fingers ( ... )

Sun Ce hated getting all dressed up, and he hated sitting through boring ceremonies, but he loved parties, and he had enough respect for his fellow pilot to sit through the ceremony anyway. Hadn't enjoyed that part, but it was over, so there wasn't much point thinking about it anymore, was there?

He stood near the refreshments, foot tapping softly in time to the music. Who'd hired the band? They weren't half bad...maybe he'd drag someone into a dance later on... Yeah, tonight was looking like it might be a bit of fun, after all.

The sight of Sun Ce in formal clothes was an amusing sight, indeed. If Zhou Yu were to be asked to describe it, he would have politely done so by comparing his friend to a tiger, forced to wear human clothes, and to sit still when its place was out in the wild, roaming freely in all its glory. This was not Sun Ce's element at all, however, that was a fact Zhou Yu would keep behind a warm and understanding smile for his friend. It was not in his nature to ridicule, and certainly, he had no wish to either.

"Ah, Bofu," he said when he approached his friend. He paused and took note of that tapping and added, "Eager for a dancing partner, I see."

A smile lit up Sun Ce's face as he caught sight of his old friend. Zhou Yu's presence could turn his mood up a few notches even in the worst of times, and as awkward as he always felt at formal things, having a good friend nearby made it feel better immediately.

"There you are, Gongjin!" He patted Zhou Yu on the shoulder, noting with a little bit of envy how... natural he seemed here. Fine clothing and delicate music and fancy ballrooms just suited Zhou Yu, in a way they really never would him. "Heh, well, I was sitting still for so long, so now a dance is sounding pretty good!" With a wink and an obvious note of teasing in his voice, he added, "Why, were you offering?"

Zhou Yu laughed; if it were anyone else, he would have taken that as an insult. However, with Sun Ce, he could be sure his friend wasn't making fun of his somewhat feminine features at all.

"Even if I were, what does it say about you, Bofu, having to wait for a someone else before taking to the dance floor?" the young Melior nobleman glanced towards the dance floor. "I am sure a pretty young lady would love to dance with you. What keeps you from offering?" He teased lightly.
