Of all the things that could possibly point to... well, he wasn't quite sure if he should jump to conclusions, but the fact that Gorgon's magical abilities weren't included in her file was not a good omen. He had a gun in his desk, a taser in his coat pocket, and a letter opener that could easily be used as an impromptu weapon, but... you never knew with magic.

He had seen some of what she was capable of, true, but... well, that was enough. At least he had a backup. He glanced back at the closet to make sure it was fully closed-oh, good.

"Come in," he said, straightening out the file before him.

Medusa opened the door and stepped inside, taking a seat in the fairly standard chair across from von Karma's desk.

Best to start with the logical surface reason for her being called in.

"You wanted to see me, Admiral? If this is about the showerhead, I apologize for the damage to the ship, but the alternative would have been ruining the wall itself, or the ceiling. It seemed like the appropriate choice, given the situation."

"No," said von Karma, wondering if it would be the best idea to tell her he was cutting her pay-or, well, to do it to begin with. "That's... being taken care of. This is... another matter."

His finger traced the spine of the file, slowly enough for effect.

Well then. The purpose of this meeting was almost certainly to gain an explanation about her magical abilities, if not her false past. Best to assume the former until proven otherwise; she could always explain away lying by way of explaining the situation with Chrona.

She put just the right amount of trepidation into her voice to seem chagrined. "Ah. You...must have noticed that my file does not describe magical ability as one of my talents, then. I'd...not let the military know, to be honest - the fault lies not with them."

She paused, looking at the floor - playing the part of the conflicted young woman as well as she could - then looked back at him. "You probably want an explanation, don't you?"

The small space grew hot and stuffy, and Edgeworth did his best to ignore the numb feeling in his legs. He had been stuck in the wardrobe for at least a quarter of an hour, if not more; long enough to hear the entirety of Medusa and von Karma's conversation, at any rate. They finished with their vague threats and deal making, and Edgeworth strained his ears to listen to her footsteps. The closing of a door signaled her exit, and he slowly counted to ten. Fortunately, a small, indistinguishable piece of heavy paper prevented the door from closing shut on him, and he pushed it open and stepped out in the room.

He took a brief moment to stretch his legs, and turned towards von Karma. "Well sir, what do you wish to do now?"

von Karma turned slightly to face Edgeworth, standing up and cracking his knuckles.

"For the moment, I'm going to keep an eye on her. If she's being truthful about the fact that she doesn't intend to stab me in the back the first chance she gets, she'll make a fine ally. On the other hand, she could be lying that she doesn't know anything, and it's possible that she was involved in the bombings."

He looked rather sore at the last item; but then, that wasn't something one could get over easily even if they didn't have a habit of carrying grudges.

Edgeworth nodded along with von Karma's words, and made careful note of his displeasure.

"And what would you like me to do about this, sir?" He had a vague idea of what his duties would entail (keep an ear out, tell him everything, etc etc), but it never hurt to get more detailed instructions.

"If you find any information about her, give it to me," said von Karma, turning to the window. "I want to know anything that would threaten me. Also, keep an eye on her, but do it discreetly; she doesn't know that you know about her, and I want to keep it that way."
