Characters: Winding Way's stagehands and others backstage Content: Ensuring that everything works the way it should Setting: Melior, backstage on the Winding Way Time: Early evening, simultaneous with the play log Warnings: TBA
This was Shido's first contribution to one of the Winding Way's performances. Normally he would have spent his time hading back on the ship, away from this ridiculousness, but frankly with the inactivity since the bombings boredom had started to set in, and at least helping out backstage felt like real work. He'd considered going out with the thieving parties, but at the end of the day, it seemed beneath him to waste his skills to pick pockets.
He glanced over at the red head who'd spoken. He looked familiar, but Shido hadn't gone out of his way to learn too many names since coming aboard.
"I can do it if there's no one else," he said, deciding it was a simple enough take that more importantly didn't require him to interact much with either crew or audience. It also put him in a decent position to watch, and though he'd never admit it, he was somewhat curious to see if the play would be any good. Considering who'd been cast as the main leads, he kind of doubted it, but Captain Kurt must have had his reasons.
"Well, then do it! You know how to work them, right?" Ichigo wasn't taking any wishy-washy nonsense back here - they had no time. The curtain was going up any minute now. H
Sneaking on to the backstage took some effort since Yuna had to avoid not only her cousin who is performing in this play but avoid a few familiar faces along the way. Quite a few knew that this bi-colored eyed lady is not a member of the crew, leaving Yuna to be rather apprehensive as she sneaked about to view these thespians at work. She wandered about for a moment, almost absentmindedly before ducking behind a clothing rack once she saw a familiar tuff of bright orange hair nearby
( ... )
To Yuna's left, there was a rustle, and then the sound of metal being kicked by accident, just before a face, and subsequently a small body popped up next to her.
"Hey," Selphie whispered, as if she was trying to get in on some secret, "whatcha doin'?"
Yuna paled faintly once she heard the rustling next to her. She thought it was Ichigo who caught her but luckily, for her it was not. "Selphie?" She whispered back once the smaller girl spoke to her. Selphie is one of the gunners aboard the Winding Way, the happy and sprightly young girl Yuna met briefly awhile back upon the deck of the ship. Judging by how friendly and nice the smaller brunette is, Yuna doubted that Selphie would be quick to tell Ichigo about her being back here.
"Oh nothing! Just peeking at Rikku and the others." Yuna giggled before she opened the curtain a little wider to show the others upon the stage.
"Look at all the people in the audience! So many people..."
Also luckily for her, Selphie wasn't the type of person who would rat someone out, even if they'd only met briefly. After meeting someone and giving your name, you weren't strangers anymore -- and besides, it wasn't like Yuna was causing any disturbances. It was harmless spying! The gunner leaned down -- which wasn't too much of an effort, since she was pretty short, anyway -- and took her own little peek.
"I know! I kinda wish I could see the whole thing, but I've only seen bits and pieces in rehearsals." She grinned, eyes sparkling. "So how's Rikku? I saw Watanuki, and he looks like he wants to, like, die or something..."
Oh, that poor guy. Selphie had laughed at his antics over his journal, but she couldn't help it -- it was so funny! Sure, she'd felt a pang or two of pity, but it was one of those situations where it was hard to keep your mouth shut and stop yourself from laughing at someone's misery.
Tohru finished the final double-check she was making of the props on the table near the wings - everything for the first act seemed to be there, except - - oh, it had just fallen on the floor, that was alright.
Slightly at a loss for what to do next, she looked up enthusiastically at Ichigo's question. "I can help do it if you like!" she said, with a smile.
"You know how to work 'em?" Since no one else seemed to be running things back here... Ichigo didn't really want the responsibility, but he'd get what needed to be done done. "It's pretty high. You'd better be careful."
"Sort of." She wasn't entirely confident, but she thought she could pull it off - and if no-one else was doing it, someone had to. "I've helped with them before, but I've not done it on my own."
Ocelot stood by the latter, straightening up his costume-he'd objected to pantaloons, which eventually lead to him wearing an outfit vaguely reminiscent of a pirate.
Which, actually, was fitting, considering his highly ironic role. Well, he wasn't due to be onstage for a while, so he could only wait and fiddle with his sword, which was slightly more difficult than fiddling with his gun. It was a good thing it was dull, at any rate.
"Hey Onii-chan!" a familiar, high pitched voice called from behind Ichigo.
...Maybe Ilya had enjoyed the time she wore the black wig into Melior a little too much, because today she had on a brown curly one she snagged, as well as an unused black cape from the costume rack. Apparently, she thought she was cute enough in them to show off. Or maybe she was just too excited with the play and having too much fun.
Ichigo turned around, recognizing the voice immediately, but unable to spot Ilya for a good few seconds until she spoke again. "I-ilya?! What the heck are you wearing?" Dammit, he was bad enough with faces already without all this makeup and costuming around to mess with him even further! "Are you in the play?" If she was, it was news to him....
"A costume of course!" the pale girl responded cheerfully.
"No." she replied to the second question he asked. "But I wanted to dress up too and these weren't being used so I decided to try them on! Plus grandfather might be out there. I wouldn't want him to recognize me if he accidentally sees me." Although the chances of that happening were pretty nil, she knew. Even if her grandfather was out there, it wasn't likely she would do anything to let the audience see her. Still, it was a nice excuse.
"Huh? You got an issue with your granddad?" Ichigo blinked at her. He didn't really have time for this, but....house lights were still up, and he could ignore the nagging voice in the back of his head for a minute or so to listen to her.
