He was at the party, oh yes, but not for the celebrations. There was Italian food here after all (which he ordered) and Italian was always meant to be savored and eaten. Most especially by him, of course. Only a gourmet would know the perfection of pasta and lasagna.

He smiled widely at him, looking quite pleased. "My fine feline friend, might I say that you and the cooks did a marvelous job?"

"Its not a prrrroblem at all, yourrr highness," Garfield replied with a polite nod. "Its just parrrt of our job, that's all."

Besides, if he was to understand the people, wouldn't it be best to be on their level as often as possible? Honestly, the other royals never seemed to get that.
"I can't wait to try everything for myself~"

Ryohei was, at the moment, herding a group of men to the galley. This was not, however, just any group of men. Though it'd been easier to get Hijikata to go along with the plan, von Karma and Cao Cao were a little more difficult to get. So there he was, letting Hijikata walk in front (but keeping an eye on him so he wouldn't bolt), pushing von Karma along with one hand, and dragging Cao Cao behind him by the sleeve with the other.
Why were the officers on this ship so extremely difficult sometimes?

Ryohei was still going to die as soon as this damned party was over. He wasn't quite sure how the boy had managed to get him in a position to push him down the hallways, or why the boy had interrupted him from a perfectly warranted and needed sulk-ah.
They were there.
"Will you let me go now?" he snarled, planning to find the nearest corner, stay there until Ryohei's back was turned, make his escape, and plot the best way to discreetly dispose of the cook.

If Cao is going to suffer such indignation by this foolhardy brat, then he shall not suffer alone!
"...hmph." He snatched his arm out of Ryohei's grasp once they made it to this dull jamboree.

All he had wanted to do was to lock himself inside his room and wait until the party was over. Hijikata is and was never one for parties anyway - he was never the most sociable of people. Thus the boatswain just wanted some time for himself... and maybe to re-read that novel that Ryohei had given him sometime earlier. He had only read it twice, given with the situation - there hadn't been much time for enjoying the novel.
But no, fate decided to be cruel to him as usual. Ryohei had promptly slammed into his room and in his extreme voice demanded that he had to go to the party his highness and everyone had put so much effort in. And while Hijikata could really care less, the kid had to blackmail him ( ... )

"I understand that there's a party to be had!" he called out, striking a pose. If there was one thing Gai got enthusiastic over (and there were many, many things, but that was beside the point) it was parties.

This could be used as a general statement, really, but he was especially enthusiastic at the moment. How could he not be? There was going to be a party! Personally, he thought a party sounded just like what the crew needed after all that stuff with zombies and robots and everything. What good was living to see another day if that next day wasn't any fun?
He showed up early to help with the decorations, like he'd told Peony he would. Not that he was that aesthetic a person, but it couldn't be too complicated, right? Right!
So, with great gusto, Sun Ce was affixing streamers to the galley walls when Gai sparkled his way into the room. Sun Ce grinned right back at him, waving a roll of streamers. "Hell yeah, there's a party to be had! Come on, it'll be getting started any minute now!"

Certainly the man was fabulously dressed, but ... honestly he'd never thought he could be a prince. Perhaps that was ridiculous considering they also were housing a princess currently, but the climate was decidedly rich for his blood, even as notable as his father was.
He poured himself a drink - nonalcoholic - as set about to mingling.

"I am at that." He would have to say hello to Ryohei later, otherwise, though he was content to relax for now. His melancholy over everything that had happened since Lunasa was waning in the presence of a party, but it was still there under the surface.
"I'm surprised to see you come up for a party and the Admiral as well. I suppose you don't really have an option when someone like Peony is the one who is dragging you in, though." Prince Peony. He was still staggered by that.

His eyes widened slightly when he mentioned von Karma; surely, of all people, he should have escaped Peony's clutches. The expression quickly faded, though, and he took another sip of his drink. "His Majesty is stubborn, to say the least." He accentuated the drawl with a headshake, and added, "Although most of the people here hardly need an excuse for a celebration."

Nothing moving? Check. No odd colours? Check. No foul odours? Check. Nothing that looked like it could come alive and eat you instead of the other way around? Check.
She sighed, telling herself to relax. Everything looked fine, especially the food she prepared. There was no sense in continuing to worry like this. So instead she decided to sit down, picking up a piece of a stray streamer along the way. Taking Tokunaga off her shoulders and placing him on her lap, she began to tie the streamer around his neck. Tokunaga might as well be decorated too!

"I don't believe we've properly spoken before, miss, but you are one of the cooks, correct~?" he placed a hand on the back of her chair, smiling charmingly at her. She was young enough to be his daughter, but that didn't mean he couldn't at least be himself. Just toned down.

"Yes I am!" she told him once her head came back up. "I'm Anise Tatlin, although I'm only just apprenticing under-" she stopped. The last time she said she was apprenticing under Ryohei didn't get the best reactions. "-the other cooks."

If he knew anything about the only male cook's shenanigans in the past, he didn't make it obvious. Instead, he focused on the youngest one and Tokunaga with his head tilted slightly. "That's quite an interesting creature you have there."
