Katsushiro paused to look back up at the 4423 before setting out onto the dock. The airship's bulk loomed large against the darkening sky, taking up most of Katsu's view. That was a pretty apt analogy to the effect the ship was having on his life of late, Katsushiro thought, turning away in search of Heihachi. It was rather overwhelming, to be honest - life aboard this ship certainly didn't seem like it was going to be boring.

Spending the evening with just Heihachi sounded like a very pleasant idea. He knew Heihachi, wouldn't have to keep second-guessing everything, the way he rather felt he had to with just about everyone else on the ship...even Kambei, now.

Spotting Heihachi, he smiled, calling out "Heihachi-dono!" as he hurried over towards where the other man was standing.

Looking up from his deep contemplation at the sound of the younger samurai's voice, Heihachi's whole demeanour brightened. He hopped off the crate he'd been waiting on and waved cheerfully. "Hey, Katsushiro! Ready to go?"

Unlike Gorobei and Kambei who both possessed an oddly ageless quality and hadn't changed at all since Kanna, Katsu had, although the differences were subtle. It made sense, after all; he was still young, still growing into the person he wanted to be. That year since Kanna had stripped a little more of the childish roundness from his face and chiselled his expression with a little more maturity, though that was greatly softened when he smiled.

Heihachi was willing to bet the girls in town would still go crazy over him, and the thought made him grin. Katsu had never seemed to like that kind of attention.

"Ready," Katsushiro replied, equally cheerful. "Where are we going?"

Heihachi didn't seem to have changed at all since Katsushiro had seen him last, which was rather comforting. Kambei and Gorobei, from what little he'd seen of them so far, didn't seem to have changed either - outwardly, at least. If their personalities had shifted over the last year, Katsu had yet to discover it...and rather hoped he wouldn't. If they were still all the same, he could pick up from where he'd left off, perhaps.
But that remained to be seen.

He noticed Heihachi's grin, and, although the sight of Heihachi grinning was hardly unusual, wondered exactly what had prompted it - it was just too late after catching sight of Katsu to be solely about that. "What's so funny?" he asked, wanting in on the joke.

He did briefly consider a little light-hearted teasing about Katsushiro's unfortunate appeal to the fairer sex, but Heihachi wasn't Gorobei who often revelled in that kind of thing. He wanted to keep Katsu in as good a mood as possible, so he simply said, "It's nothing. Come on, lets go ( ... )
