My laptop runs Windows 7 and TS2 runs fairly well on it. I haven't heard anything about TS2 and Windows 8 yet, but I've heard mixed reviews of 8 in general- it seems to be more geared towards smart phones than laptops.

I recently heard that Win8 sucks. Especially for the Sims 2.

I'd recommend getting a laptop with Windows 7 :) That's my "setup" and it works okay. I have no idea if Win 8 would run TS2, so better safe than sorry?

There is currently an ongoing thread on MTS about the various difficulties people are having installing the game on Windows 8 and I absolutely would not recommend it until the number of success stories outnumber the number of failures.

I've had no problem whatsoever on running TS2 with Windows 7; however, I've heard from quite a few simmers on Tumblr that installing Sims 2 on Windows 8 is like pulling teeth, and pretty much impossible. From what I remember, one of them was only able to install the base game and University before it would not allow them to install any more, and they're still attempting to circumvent that.
