Oh, crap

So I just opened up my game and my university seems to have completely disappeared. I have no idea what happened. I was just playing it yesterday and it was working just fine. It had at least fifty young adults living in it that have completely vanished. I just have the one university, so I don't see how I could have deleted it. I haven't uploaded ( Read more... )

Is the content still there, like the folders are still there but you don't see the university in the game?

That happened to me with my Pleasantview once, and I never did figure out how to get it back.

I'm no help.

Not sure. The Sims on the missing university are still around- I had a Sim in the base neighborhood invite one student over and he definitely still existed (and I could invite the other students in his dorm, too).

if you are on a Mac I think there is a way to revert a file back to the last working copy, but I don't have one so really have no idea how that works.

I have never been able to retrieve a hood after it's "disappeared". I think the idea is that the NeighborhoodManager.package has corrupted in some way. The folder containing the hood is still there and so are the sims, just for some reason the hood doesn't show anymore. It's just generally a lost cause and that subhood is replaced. Maybe someone else has an idea. I haven't had that happen often enough for me to do any experimenting.

As far as I know this means that your Neighborhood Manager file got corrupted. There is no solution to fix this, you must replace for a backuped version or start a new hood.

I've never had this issue myself, but if the characters are still there, it'd make me curious as to what would happen if I tried to attach a different university.

I definitely wouldn't try that without doing some sort of backup first, though.
