How to set it up?

OOH, I will get a chance to start it all again new! A few confessions -- I really like Strangetown. I can't get away from it. I love the desert theme. I set all the seasons on "summer" I love playing with aliens. I like the maxis characters from this neighborhood. Blasphemy, I know. But I do. I love the summer/desert themed lots I've collected and ( Read more... )

If you want some nice lots, you could try these by iceraptoress. I've used a bunch of them, and they look and play great.

I'm in the anti-cc/anti-hack pool, out of part laziness (not knowing how to do anything and not having the patience to figure it out), part fear (that they'll bork my game). Maxis stuff is good enough for me. Except I do look longingly at the cool stuff in the stories posted here sometimes.

I have an online friend who says she never really played the game, she just loved designing and decorating houses. Too bad she can't come over and fancy up my game for me as I'd rather play than build!

Right now I'm in love with my family-aspiring Sims. I just can't stop myself from letting them have all the babies they want >.>

Liking the premade Sims isn't blasphemy at all: I love them and I know I'm not the only one around here who does! I'd really like to play any character with a backstory and let myself decide where to go with that, which means I might like looking for user-created Sims with a backstory - but I've got enough on my hands with just the Sims from the game.

I haven't had much free time to explore all of the features of the later expansions. With what I've done, I've found some of the features that make their way into regular play, but not much of the things that happen when I leave my Sims' home lots and go to the community lots. I'd really like to, though.
But I have been able to get into customizing my Sims, and I can say I like the clothing in the expansions, especially the later ones; but the earlier ones do have a few good pieces, especially for certain situations.

I also like the pre-mades, although some 'hoods more than others (Plessantview and Belladonna Cove are my favourites), but I don't want the Plessantview townies infiltrating every custom 'hood I have, so I use clean templates (found on More Awesome Than You).

I'm not much of a builder myself, but I get by -- options are to look for custom, pre-build 'hoods on Mod The Sim or on people's livejournal/dreamwidth accounts.

The CC/hacks I can't live without are ACR, InTeen, a bunch from More Awesome Than You, and a multi pollination technician hack. There's probably a lot more (and a lot more specific ones), but I don't really have the time currently to dig through my downloads folder.

I just started playing Strangetown myself. Haven't seen one single alien but then I'm playing a Sim at college so I don't know if they show up there or only in Strangetown itself (if that makes any sense). I'm always downloading CC houses. Mostly furnished ones at that. Sometimes they come with great furniture/decor, etc. I'm not that good at The Sims2, so sometimes I wind up with back lawns on my beach (if I'm in Desiderata Valley).

I would love to play a Medieval world but I'm way too lazy to A: Set up all the period buildings and B: Hunt down all the period clothing, items, blah blah blah.
