*subject line shamelessly stolen from the fabulous madknitsso, i've got a bunch o' crap rolling around in my head. and it's the middle of the night and i can't sleep. so i'm writing it all down, hopefully exhausting myself, and trying the sleep thing again soon as i'm done with this ( Read more... )

If you've got cold tootsies, might I suggest getting some silk socks, and wearing wool ones over those. Also, go to a hiking store (REI, or EMS if you have one in your neighbourhood) and see what they've got for winter campers in the way of socks.

I'm sorry to hear that news about your niece. I hope this doc has a success story with her, too.

thanks, dear. i did have thin undersocks and wool oversocks, in the two-pairs-plus-boots configuration, but the unders were cotton, not silk. i used to do the silk/wool pairing when i was in the air force and it seemed to work pretty doggone well.

i sincerely hope that my little niece is a great success story and defies all the medical odds and is with us for a great long time to come.

Wool socks are the bomb for cold feet. It also makes a huge difference which shoes I'm wearing. The really thin soled ones are actually warmer than a pair of boot-shoes ( ... )

wow... 4 months on a single knitting stitch? i learned from my grandma when i was a kid, and i picked it up in about 20 minutes. :P i never got past the knit stitch, but i only tried to knit when i was hanging out with my grandma over the summer.

thanks for the sock advice. we're about to do a massive sock-drawer-reorg at my house, so i could probably manage a couple pairs of thick socks. i have some weird knit socks that have a super-thin synthetic sole of some kind. those do manage to keep my feet mostly warm. but i'll try the ragg socks, i'm always looking for ways to improve the comfort of my footed zone.

:) hope all's well with you.

I <3 your ability to laugh at your class. I had some good chuckles from related nostalgia.

One day I asked in 5 different ways which version of Windows someone was running before giving them instructions relevant to what I believed was the problem. Than I was asked how to get money out of a cash register. I recommended a crow bar and hung up.

I also remember in greater detail than I should probably the woman who was upset after I asked her to delete the cookies so her COFI (customer order fulfillment interface) would work. "I don't know what time it is where you are, but it's noon over here. I had coffee for breakfast and I don't like cookies!" *hangs up*

Yes...... that's exactly what I meant. Might I add, this person was expected to work with COFI five days a week for over 2 months by the time I had that conversation with her.

Some of us referred to those members of our sales staff dinosaurs.
