If you have grown into yourself, nobody can get under your skin. If you grew up in a messed up family, there may be ACOA or CODA meetings near you that are free and anonymous and are an instant support group regardless of what city you are in. ACOA stands for Adult Children of Alcoholics/Addicts and CODA is Codependents Anonymous, and both can be lifesavers for people struggling with all sorts of problems. Since we tend to attract "problem" people to us (it's part of codependency), getting a healthy support system is key to finding ourselves, IMO. If you have family of origin issues and find yourselves attracting psychos and sociopaths and addicts, it wouldn't hurt to check ACOA and CODA out, and it wouldn't cost a cent.
