acually I think it's cause Nathan Fillion is a geek and likes to give a wink to his fellow browncoats. He's done it before and likes to point them out on Twitter. Or rather, he likes to go "Anyone notice? DID YA?!" (not in those exact words but XD)

I knew it was coming too, as soon as he got that shot (although I also knew there would be a Firefly ref in this ep somewhere. Nathan said so)

There has been at least two before... well three but two were combined (as in a prop, think it was the catalyzer from Out of Gas, behind Castle wearing a Mal outfit. edit: ok, even the music in that scene is very Firefly xD)

So yeah, I think Nathan is to blame for most of it. Poking at them to do things XD

Well, I hadn't been spoiled about any Firefly references and I still called it. :) Although in my head I actually heard Kerr Avon saying it an instant before I heard Jayne saying it (an instant before I *actually* heard Rick Castle saying it). Layers within layers!

With Castle (well Nathan in general really... it even happened in White Noise) I'm always prepared for Firefly quotes XD
