Regency Ball -- Date set!

bracke called me up yesterday to tell me that she has booked the venue for the ball. It will take place on Saturday August 29th.

I went to visit bracke and nazgman on Saturday, and they picked me up and drove to the venue, so we could could look at the house and peek through the windows. It's a very pretty building from the beginning of the 20th century, but the ( Read more... )

Oh, that sounds wonderful! It is good that not so much decoration is necessary. Some tablecloths or fabric should be quite easy to get hold of.

At this point a link to the naughty jelly is necessary: http://www.historicfood.com/events2008-9.html and scroll down to a little film.

I really hope solbirger and I can come! Do you think it is ok if he wears his Aker Costume (1810) or a musketerkorps uniform (1808-ish)? I can make a dress, but it is more hard with men's clothing. (We really like to dance, only we don't know how).

I would also like to ask if I may mention the ball to some friends in the "empire" society or if it limited for spaces? (I am thinking about plasmaregn and operafantomet in particular. It would be a fun trip if we could fill a car.)

ROTFL! That is one naughty jelly. XD Maybe we should make a Strawberry Wobbler (from Nanny Ogg's Cookbook)?

nazgman had a Swedish cookbook from 1876 that we looked through. Jellies don't seem to have been very big in these parts, but there were lots of puddings with strange names. I found something called "Ägg-Bubbert" that I'm going to try and make. It seemed pretty low-carb. :)

bracke took some photos, but she hasn't sent them to me yet ( ... )

solbirger looks very handsome in a Søndenfjeldske uniform :) it is not so posh, but it has buttons!

We need to think a bit more about the dancing...I'm sure we could find enough interested people to make a workshop worth your while, but it is still long to travel.

Historiebok för kakälskare might have some good period cakes in it, I'll have a look.
