The seminar this morning was so awesome :D I found out that I already knew two people who are in it from the summer school which is great because it means that:

a)I know someone
and
b) Not EVERYONE looks at me in confusion when I say Geordie words like 'canny'!

Anyway, it was really good and we had a discussion going about the worth of a humanities

I'm happy to hear you've found a good group of people right on the first day.
I think it was at Leeds University where we had a similar talk on humanities degrees. I found it quite motivating.

:D In Newcastle it can also be used in another way, to say that a person is 'okay'/nice/alright...that sort of thing. So, like, if I met someone who was friendly I might say 'I like him, he's canny' :D

Congratulations! "Canny" is now on my "variations of English" list. What can I say, I'm a bit of a language nerd. Thanks! :D (I'll probably never be able to use it though.)

And by chance I found an idiom with Newcastle I hadn't heard before: carry, take, etc. coals to Newcastle

I really love my job. It's a lovely building where I work and I feel so professional and awesome.

Also... YAY. I'm slightly embarrassed but also proud to have shared my obsession so freely - lol! Although, I really should have indulged in writing fic this week because omg perfect opportunity, but nah. I'm just chilling. :)
