Why The MSM Hates The Christian Faith

Jan 08, 2010 15:49

Brit Hume ended up in hot water because he said on a Fox News show that maybe Buddhism wasn't working out for Tiger Woods and maybe he ought to look into the kind of redemption and forgiveness the Christian faith offers to put his life back together. The media-entertainment-industrial complex were horrified. You see, in the la-la land of the ( Read more... )

I'm not sure if it was he himself who said it, or someone else commenting on the whole thing, but I recall a statement that the minute you mention Jesus Christ, all hell breaks loose.

That was Brit Hume as well. He went on The O'Reilly Factor and elaborated on his statement about Tiger Woods and talked a little bit about his faith in Christ. It was... refreshing.

Ah, ok. I saw that as well, but couldn't remember for sure.

It was nice to see someone not back down!

Apparently, Brit Hume became a born-again Christian after his son committed suicide several years ago.

in general i agree with you. much of the writers and Tv world appears to be made up of hard core atheists, or the type of agnostic that goes "i dont know and you dont either!"

i made the mistake of reading Scott Adams (yes of Dilbert) non comic book......in which he felt obliged to not only mention he was an atheist, but spend page after page hating on Christians... and his anti Christian statements would suddenly be in the middle of completely non religious relevent discussions.... it was sort of like
"blah blah blah pickles, sandwiches. blah blah and Christians are so awful and how DARE they like sandwiches too, blah blah blah shopping"
it was..... vertigo inducing.

thats what i get from the mass media whenever Xtianity gets mentioned.... its very odd

I always assume secularists/athiests/etc are afraid of any religion containing absolutes beyond the big ones like THOU SHALT NOT KILL (which they will always argue was never a religious law). They seem to be okay with religions that are rather vague about lifestyle choices (open marriage? no sweat. shoot up heroin regularly? eh, no biggie) but any actual distinction of right and wrong is like sunlight to a vampire.

That's my experience with them, anyway - and I tend to end up in those discussions a lot. Their only exception to that rule, and one which I do not understand, is Islam. I have some theories as to why, but they aren't formulated enough to get into here...just gut feelings more than anything else.

I think I observe a tendency for Christians to be pressured to stifle any outward exclamations of their faith, while religious expression by other faiths is encouraged, almost as though it enderscores the assertion, "Hey! See how open-minded and non-conventional we are? See how we bring other beliefs to the forefront?" In doing so, however, they actually stifle expression of religion for Christians.
