I'm all for raising taxes on everything including the gas for my fuel-inefficient car if it means better roads and public transportation.

Me too. It makes us really popular, doesn't it? But until someone pays for it nobody is going to fix those gaping wide potholes on my streets.

I'm somewhat outraged by that! Of all places, your location should have the least potholes!

One of my friends' siblings, I guess my friend, too, now was rhapsodizing about the wonders of California, where he works. He's no intention of moving back to NY so his sister and I view him with suspicion and wonder if he's possessed.

You would think that potholes would mostly be in areas where it freezes, but somehow we have inferior roads where just a heavy rainfall causes huge cracks. I must admit that most of the potholes are on very heavily trafficked places so it is hard to shut them down to fix them. Side streets are pretty good, Onramps are horrible.

Nonetheless I would also rhapsodize about California. You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave.
