Our thermostat is broken, at least for the heat side of things. Last time I tried with the AC, it worked properly, but the heater just stays on all the time, no matter how low we set it ( Read more... )

If I was to go with you, I'd have to figure out how to get out to Davis, no?

Dunno if I have to run to Redding this weekend. Otherwise, I might be up to taking the train out and maybe getting there.

I haven't gotten a chance to see HP either yet.

If you don't get to see it before I get back, I'll go. While it's not in my range of stuff I wanna see (I'd much rather see that movie about Edward R. Murrow, but not alone!) I'm curious.

I noticed in the ads yesterday (Home Depot? Lowes? one of those) that thermostats were on sale. I think they started at $20 for a basic 5-day +2 model, and went up from there. I think you's have to spend $20-$30 on a space heater anyway. Oh, I guess you already have one. Well, it looks like still isn't that expensive to replace the thermostat, and if it's easy to do (I would think so), maybe you could just talk to your landlord, offer to replace it yourself TODAY, and deduct the cost from your next month's rent? I would think the LL would want the issue fixed as fast and cheap as possible.

It's a wall heater (we're in a very small house, don't need central heating), and the thermostat is a built-in. Thanks though ::)

And unfortunately, our space heater disappeared in the move. I don't know why we're even considering moving again.
