My entry is done! Oh wait, never mind. ;)

I think out of the 15 spots, it would depend on how many are already taken by other Cis-gendered white straight men? If not many (If I have to pick a number, no more than maybe three others), then you should definitely be on the committee, as I think you will be a valuable asset.

Just my 02 cents.

It is currently being formed, so I have no idea who is and isn't on the committee.

Then I definitely think you should at least apply to be on it. 👍🏼

and of course it just occurred to me that I'm asking in a place where I have total control and/or power! So the power dynamic in this relationship is completely lopsided! Yay me! *head/thunk*

Out of 15 slots, you bring white, male, straight, and disability-other. Are all the other various interests represented? If not, perhaps you could suggest expanding the group. If everything is pretty much covered, I wouldn't sweat it. Perhaps you can show them all the proper way to kick hippies?

I'm still working on my entry. No panic this time (yet), so my creative process is out of whack.

My thoughts would be go ahead and apply and leave the moral conundrums until you actually become part of the committee. If you were invited to apply, you have a voice that's being sought and that's enough for me. If you end up on the committee, then maybe you should take a look at the makeup of the committee and go from there.

I'm feeling pretty good about my entry although my confidence wavers from moment to moment. At least I got it in and don't have to stress about it anymore!

The fact that you are even considering said questions strongly supports your right to be on the committee in my opinion. Also, though I haven't known you long, by Idol standards, I have known you long enough to know you are a very thoughtful, fair-minded, and considerate man.

I second, or third, the notion that you apply and then see how the land lies. You can always recuse yourself if once on the committee you decide someone else should have your chair. I know whatever you decide it will be the honourable choice.

Also, totally get you on the disability thing. If I had a dollar for every time someone has said to me, "I must have that. I get tired too." :-)
