jktoeriqjij!!! YES!! I SHARE YOUR VANCOUVER RAAAAAGE!!! Oh, please let me just VENT for a sec.

It only rains toward the second half of the shooting schedule - when they're here in July through Christmas it's really quite nice - it only starts really pouring in January and yeah, it's not FREEZING rain except for this year when I was way up in Coquitlim - that was nasty.

You can only get to the airport from South Burnaby in half an hour if a) I am driving and b) it is 4:00 in the morning.

I read a story where the Smallville studio - STUDIO - was out in the country - I'm like WTF, it's in the middle of BURNABY in an industrial/residential area. They were talking about how sparse the city was - hello there's what a millionish people here??

We should start a community for such things because OMGWTFANNOYING!!!!

Also: not realising that Vancouver=/=GVRD, but also that all the cities are pretty much shmooshed up against each other. GAH.

Because of the obsessive compulsive thing, I tend to scare writers when I offer to help with fact-checking and accuracy. I'm working on it? >.>

I am the same way when I beta. If it's a detail I notice then someone else is going to notice. I can't tell you the depths of research I did for this one X-Files AU I wrote. I did about 3 months of research beforehand about the location and the time period etc. If I didn't feel good about it, I didn't write it.

There's a community for SGA writers for Canadian research sga_canada_help- I'm still thinking there should be one for SPN.

BTW - our airport - especially the international terminal IS magical and awesome! It's rated the third most bestest terminal in the world. Hell, they're putting an AQUARIUM in there. Really, it's gorgeous. There's waterfalls and a ton of carved native art and lots of natural light and things. And 8475918789 people who are all wandering around bumping into each other going "MARVIN, DO YOU HAVE OUR PASSPORTS?" :D

I wonder if Jared and Jensen have Nexxus passes?? Hmmm...

I almost stop reading a story when they say bad things about Vancouver but that's just silly, but it is annoying. LOL. And of course I don't want to say anything but maybe we should. *shrug*

*looks outside* HEY, guess what? Its not raining. OMG is the world coming to an end? *rolls eyes* Okay, may have been a bad joke but I agree with you.

Yeah, when I point these things out to writers, they tend to get pissed off at me (probably 'cause they don't know me from a hole in the ground, and I also just seem to have that effect on people, lol). OH WELL! I'd rather rant about it in my journal anyway!

That's the problem, if you leave bad feedback on a story your a bitch, I mean its not a very good feeling to get bad feedback but if its just pointing out that Vancouver is very different than how they described in their story, what's the matter. Doesn't mean they have to rewrite the story or that its wrong, as people that live here we know what the weather and traffic is like. They should be glad we want to help.

Yeah I wasn't awake enough when I first commented obviously. LOL. I did have an opinion, and yes ranting on ones own journal is a good idea.

i can understand writing a character as hating the vancouver airport, canon or not. i can't fathom anyone liking it.

I haven't been there since I was about twelve, so. But I do understand the general airport apathy people have. They're not fun places of magical wonder.
