[Even though he really shouldn't be after everything he's been through recently, Gideon is up and hobbling around. He's limping and moving slowly to keep his side from hurting as much as possible, trying to enjoy the change of scenery. This-- getting off the boat-- is what he was waiting for, even if it's not going to be permanent.
When he sees Mike huddled up under the palm tree, he notes the young turtle's dejected demeanor.]
Hey, Mike. Everything okay?
[Forgive his ignorance, he was mostly unconscious when Thom's death was happening.]
[Gideon can tell that something with the turtle is a little off, and debates pressing the issue. At the question, he blinks and looks down at himself.]
... Is it still that obvious? Damn, was trying not to draw attention to it.
[He's had his fit. Shouting, pummeling vegetation, trying in vain to get back to the ship... None of it worked. He couldn't find the medic in time. And he still can't find him.
In lieu of sitting around, brooding, like he'd like to, he's pacing the island. C4, the only thing he thought he'd need, is hiding in a chink in his armor. Maybe if he makes enough circuits, he'll get these things out of his system. And, it's on the beach that he runs across a familiar face.]
[Splinter can be quieter than a feather, if he wants. But he's old, and unless he's TRYING, his normal footsteps make enough noise so that his students will notice. If they're paying attention.
He just toddles up behind and to the side of his student, and watches the same water.]
[Mike's not paying attention on a good day, right now he's completely absorbed in his own thoughts as he stares past the waves. The edges of his mask are damp, but it's difficult to see when he's hiding behind his knees, in the shadows of the palm tree.]

[He steps off the beach, approaching the turtle.] What are you doing?

Thinking.
[He glances slyly at Ironhide.]
Don't say it, that's Raph's job.

[Don makes his way slowly to his brother, head lowered slightly and shoulders hunched a bit as he tries to catch Mike's eye.]
You don't need to stay out of the sunlight, you know. This may be one of our only opportunities to experience it off the boat for awhile.

[Mike glances up, then looks back over across the horizon.]
Yeah, I know.

[He puts his hands casually in his pockets.]
It's a beautiful view, isn't it?

[He shifts over a bit to make room, then looks back over the turquoise water.]
Yeah, I guess so.
