Yes, that stove is valuable, don't ever let anyone throw it away!!!! It is most likely late 1940s or possibly very early 50s, no later. As for the gold and white, yeah, my dad's parents' house on Long Island was *exactly* like that. They downsized quite a bit when they moved to FL, and when my nana moved to MI after my grandfather died, but she still has quite a bit of funky stuff. That's some great tile in the bathroom there, too! I love mid-century houses. :)
I have a bit of info about the manufacturer, based on correspondence (real LETTER CORRESPONDENCE! through the MAIL!) that D's grandfather exchanged with an antique-clock expert in the mid-1980s.
It's totally like a treasure hunt, which is probably why I found the challenge so appealing.
