I ended up making myself a pinboard account anyway even tho I am not head-over-heels over pinboard like some ppl are, BUT! It is worth noting that the new delicious ppl did also say somewhere that they still have the tag bundle data. I can't remember reading about whether they will/won't reimplement the functionality, but them mentioning they do have the data is a good sign toward that, I feel.
I also wish someone would make a fannish solution, though. (But I'd also prefer something not run by the OTW and something not super slow like the AO3, sooooooooo we'll see if that ever happens. Maybe if DW expands their memories system to make it more like bookmarking or something, I'd be happy with that too.)
I think delicious are planning on bringing bundles back, but the fact they did this without consulting the userbase has just ruined any trust I might have had in them. I basically now have a choice between getting used to comma separated tags and putting up with an ugly clunky interface with a company I don't trust not to fuck things up further at any given moment, or switching to a company that so far seems okay, has a much more readable interface, and having to re-do all my bundles. I think Imma go with the latter.
I think there might be some people working on something completely independant of DW or OTW, but I'm not sure on that. I'd prefer it, I think. I kind of like having my bookmarks one step removed from my journaling/fic commenting pseud.
I've been using my bookmarks so little lately that I am actually pondering just waiting and seeing and making a decision next time I do actually want to use my bookmarks (I have of course DLed a backup of my bookmarks from delicious ready to import elsewhere if I want to). But IDK. I'll probably give in and go to pinboard in a couple of days, because the fact my bookmarks aren't easily navicable online anywhere is just weirding me out.
