I realise I've gone a bit quiet with no explanation, well I got roped into NaNoWriMo because my bff 'needed moral support'. Of course Mr. I Need Moral Support has just passed the 20k mark while I'm staring at 8k and whimpering a lot. Bastard ( Read more... )

I love Urban Decay, when I can afford it I usually treat myself to some of their yummy vibrant eyeshadows! :D

I really liked the colours they do. :D I loved the sustainable box too, but I think that might be a bit wild for me.

I adore fairy tales! Is there any chance I can get a link? It's fine if you don't want anyone to read them.

lol my job involves writing for a word count under deadline pressure - so I take extreme satisfaction each November in watching nanowrimo deadlines whoosh by and knowing I'm not meeting a single one.

Redhead sounds like fun. Is it auburn or Mary Jane from Spiderman (comics not movie) kind of red?

I might upload them to a heavy filter once I'm done editing and everything, if you want to read them. It might take me a while though.

LOL, I'm so behind right now it's not even funny. and M is well ahead and gloating, I ought to smack him for getting me into this mess. XD

I didn't bleach my (brown) hair first so it's a really dark red, almost blood coloured. I was worried when I first towelled off but then it got a bit lighter and more defined as it dried.

Thanks, I’m a total fairy tale junkie and Cinderella is one of my favorites. My daughter and I must have read dozens of different versions from all over the world - it’s amazing how ubiquitous (man, I can't believe I got to use “ubiquitous in a casual sentence!) it is. There’s even a version from Ancient Egypt complete with slipper - it’s dropped by a falcon in the pharaoh’s lap. My favorite fairy tale though is the one with the girl and her (depending on the version) her six, seven, nine, ten or twelve brothers who get turned to swans, geese, ducks, or ravens, and she has to knit them sweaters made out of nettles while not speaking. I actually managed to work that into fanfiction once, which was an extra perk.

I love them too; I have so many collections it's ridic. My favourite is one from Grimm's Tales that doesn't seem to have many variations, "The Tale of One Who Travelled to Learn what Shivering Meant." I want to do the Swan Maiden one, I just can't figure out what genre to use for it or what tweaks to make (having the same issue with Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty, and Rapunzel.) So far I've got the previously mentioned Noir!Cinderella (it's told from the POV of the detective the Queen hires to find Cinders); Red Riding Hood is Hard SF (alien planet, the wolf is one of the indigenous life-forms); and Steampunk!Pinocchio, because that one seemed too obvious to skip.

Cinderella is Detective Noir, and Red Riding Hood is Science Fiction
These sound really, really interesting.

And yay!, for successful experminenting! :D

NGL, I kind of really like the Cinderella one. A lot. IDK if I'm getting the voice right though, but I can't afford to fret about it until I'm drafting. XD

Successful experimenting ftw!

Can't wait to read them :D

Might as well say it here; the pictures prove that it was a successful experiment indeed, heh!
