Of blue haired men and the pegasus knights who love them (includes Ike/Elincia ...no homo?)

Are there any fans of Ephraim/Tana on the F-list? If so, I would hear your reasonings. I am pretty much on the fence with it. I want to love it, I mean, they look really nice together, but it's hard for me not seeing it as a girl with a small crush that mostly goes over his head ( Read more... )

XD I love that Gerik fanart.

Oh! It sounds like you've encountered Emblem Queen. I highly recommend avoiding interaction with her at all costs - she is 100% beyond reason, especially when it comes to Ike/Elincia and her bizarre hate-on for Geoffrey.

Seriously. I don't advise AVOID AT ALL COSTS often, but EQ is. . .really, really out there ( ... )

Sure sounds like it! Unless there's another wacky Ike/Elincia fan who likes calling Geoffrey a "pansy", in which case. . . yeah, hiding forever.

>__>

I have quite a bit, as it's my main focus. These are archives from my meta comm as it was easier to find, but I can find the original posts at my journal if you'd like the discussions and stuff too.
Ephraim and reality issues (endgame spoilers)
Ephraim is a lucky bastard (no spoilers)
Power dynamic differences between the twins (No spoilers)
Seth/Eirika fandom meta (touches on Ephraim a bit, mild hints of spoilers but nothing outright)

That's all I dug up that was directly Ephraim related - I have a couple of Knoll-specific meta posts (because that's what happens when you write a character with barely any info ;___;) but I don't think you've even seen him yet at this point in game, and it wouldn't make much sense.
(Psssst, this is the part where I pimp out magvel, too ( ... )

I see Ephraim/Tana as more resentful on Tana's end, myself

Yeah. Negative scenarios that keep coming to me include emotional neglect on his end and pent-up resentment, possibly leading to infidelity (hi, Cormag) on hers. And I'm not sure Ephraim would necessarily grok what the problems even were.

Seconding Raphi here, as I see you've seen EQ and her, uh, "shenanigans"--the chick is, to put it mildly (and in a hopefully politically correct manner) legitimately batshit insane. It's a bit ridiculous. Just stay very, very far away. ><

As far as Ephraim/Tana is concerned, the only way it makes sense for me is mostly everything everyone doesn't see it as. (Meaning that I don't see it as a super sweet and fluffy romance--then again, when have I ever seen anything as being sweet and fluffy? XD). The supports, for one thing, really actually made me super averse to the pairing, because aside from their supports with each other, I really enjoyed all of their other supports.

But, I do ship them. Just in a fucked up and dysfunctional way that I suppose is very typical of me. :P
Oh, and with politics. (Actually, I have this on my laptop as a WIP, so...)

Also. Fuck yeah Tethys! I liked her before and then wrote her once, and have been completely in love with her since then. And Gerik! Oh yesssssssssss.

Yeah, thank you for the warning love. I'll make sure to keep my distance like a peg knight keeps her distance from a ballista.

...Too nerdy?

Yeah, their supports just...are not romantic at all! She's pretty much begging for his attention, and even at the end he's all like "Hey, bro, chill. You're cool." and she responds all "YAY YOU LOVE ME <333"

Tethys is just so awesome! She's one of the most savvy and dangerous-minded seeming of the dancers in the series. (Her design is also gorgeous)

You can never be too nerdy.

The supports just took everything I loved about them as individuals and flushed it down the toilet. It's the worst of each of them smushed together... and not in a way that I really buy. :/ (Which is why I tend to be blissfully ignorant of their supports unless absolutely necessary lol.)

...This really doesn't support my reason for pairing them, but. One day, I will elaborate. I hope.

Yeah. I can jive with the idea that Tana has a crush on him, and even that she wants him to notice her, but in a perfect world after their A Support she will get a clue and the two will remain bros. Then Tana can go after Eirika someone who gets her.

Hey, if people can argue that Heather is straight, I'm not surprised about Ike. (but come on, people, look at those endings. Look at his interactions with women. Amusingly, he's also the one who always treats them as equal human beings--and still gets owned regularly)

I ship Ephraim/Eirika shamelessly, sooooo. IDK, Tana doesn't seem the kind of personality that'd do well with him.

As for Ike and Elincia, I love their interaction. As in, the employer/employee relationship that went to unrequited crush that went to strong, real friendship and trust--not many people go beyond the crush state positively and I love Elincia for that, she is awesome.

Also Thetis is hng and awesome and I love both her and her little brother so much. The fact that they're a hot strong lady and a shota doesn't help

That really gets me, because Heather is inarguably a lesbian. I mean, she even shows disdain for men! Though, to be fair, it is something of a double standard to harp on people who ship Heather with a man, when one retorts that just because a character is shown only having relationships with women in a canon could also be a homosexual.

But still. Heather. A lesbian. Thank you. (Not to mention, Heather is one of the most developed of the new RD characters!)

I have yet to see the incest-y vibe from the twins, even though I am not opposed to it. I'll have to keep going, it seems! ;)

I agree. Ike and Elincia have a wonderful relationship, and love each other very deeply. But I feel it is in no way a romantic love. In fact, despite the reasoning that Ike is a wonderful person who many people may crush on, I think he would be a hard man to actually love. A reason only Soren and Ranulf, two men with major willpower, can put up with him

There's a difference between "so I know this character is probably this orientation, but I think their relationship with Y could be interesting and I ship it" and "no I don't care characters can't be of orientation Z". Which seems to be the case with Heather: denying a part of her identity because it bothers, rather than because they see interesting interaction with somebody else.
Also, usually when I see FE guys being paired with other guys they're rarely people who have explicitely said they hate men and they're disgusting and oh let me use you to lay women, I don't care cause you're a guy. Which is what Heather does, pretty much.

Read their supports. They're pretty blatant. ANd their paired ending hints at it too.

Or to be precise, Ranulf is chill and doesn't tolerate nonsense, and Soren is too devoted to him to mind.

I knew you would agree with me, Sam. :)

From what little they interacted I totally felt a strong Eirika/Tana vibe. I need to get their supports!

Yes, this is true. It makes sense that they would have to learn sexy times from one another. I feel like such a pervert. It feels lovely.

Don't like Ephraim/Tana. Wanted to, expected to, but I hated it. Those supports make it seem DOA. I'd rather ship her with Eirika. Or Cormag. But definitely not with Ephraim.

Marth/Caeda on the other hand is something that I was meh on (thanks to the anime, which sucks, and the manga, in which he seems far more interested in Merric) until the DS games redefined Caeda as a 110% awesome character and twisted up their relationship in general into something I could really get my teeth into. I don't see it as hearts and flowers and puppies, but I really think it's great. I think she's the main thing that'll keep his head together, and that won't be an easy job.

I do dig Marth/Catria, though. Rawr.

Someone, somewhere out there, has to ship Roy/Thany? Right? Someone?

Kinda how I feel, myself.

Despite my misgivings with Akaneia, I really do enjoy Caeda's character. I feel that, in many situations, she would be the backbone of the unified kingdom, where Marth seems to be so very soft. I feel that she is a wonderful match for him in every way. Shadow Dragon did a great job with her character, especially where the anime really failed.

Something about Marth/Catria speaks to me.

I'm sure! Of course, I assume someone must ship Roy/Cecilia and Roy/Lalum at some point too...right?

Hey there, I kinda ship Roy/Cecilia. Not because it's sexy (yuk) but because it intrigues me that he'd be attracted to a scholar.

Roy/Lalum doesn't work for me, though.

where Marth seems to be so very soft.

Soft?

The anime failed on so many counts, but Caeda was particularly shafted.

I could possibly get on board. It's very "hot for teacher" ahaha.

I always got this vibe from Marth that, overall, he wouldn't be particularly prepared to actually rule his country when push came to shove, and it would be a lot of help from Elica and Caeda that would really keep the kingdom going. It could just be me, though.
