[ Smith had taken her spot back up in Sickbay after debating, for what felt like eternity, if she really should. Shtel Nor was like a fabled time in Disney Land. Get to be the princess for a small amount of time then you'd wake up one morning and realize that someday? Fairy tales end ( Read more... )

[ It was with a little bit of embarrassment that Ena found herself walking into sickbay with an injured left hand. She kept it tucked up into her sleeve and she attempted to look inconspicuous as she surveyed the occupants. And then she thanked her lucky stars when she saw Smith. ]

Hey. You got a minute?

[ Smith looked up at Ena. It'd been a while since she'd seen her. Somehow her with a injured hand wasn't surprising. ]

Going at it a bit rough with Lanford?

[ She hand out. ]

[ She laughed and ducked her head as she held her hand out. ]

[ research. it was something mccoy enjoyed because he never had time to commit to it fully, only between everything else - all the crises, all the botched away missions, all the sore backs and hypochondriacs. he never had the opportunity to just sit there and stare at the chemical makeup of a virus for four days uninterrupted. because that? that could drive you a little crazy.

mccoy knew he was having problems when he was feeling overstaffed with a four person roster, three of those people being himself. he dragged a hand over his face and leaned back in his inflexible federation chair, and spun it languidly away from the screen on which rotated an enhanced computer generated image of something he hoped to one day bring a cure back for. his hand dropped into his lap and he surveyed the patientless sickbay, and noticed for the first time linette pretending to be busy. because he actually knew what it looked like when she was busy, and that wasn't it. he wasn't quite sure what that meant. hopefully she was just bored. with his luck, ( ... )

I think that depends on what definition of "working" we're going off of today.

[ meaning she really wasn't, just making it look like it, and was in a sassy mood. which really wasn't anything new. but it was better than her being in a bad mood. avoiding alex seemed to do wonders for her mood. sure, it didn't actually solve the problem at hand. but linette wasn't sure how to say it. "oh yeah, so you die in half a year?" not really the best way to go. ]

How about the one with the five minute break.

[ he had honestly lost track of how long he'd been sitting but now, with a little mental calculation, he could confidently round it to too damn long. standing up after a long period of relative inactivity always made him feel old. ]

...how would one reply to that inverted. in_the_file October 10 2009, 07:23:41 UTC
[ linette stood and made her way over to him, folding her arms across her chest. she glanced at the wall with her eyebrows up then back at him. ]

You could always make the old man read it for you.
