[ Smith had taken her spot back up in Sickbay after debating, for what felt like eternity, if she really should. Shtel Nor was like a fabled time in Disney Land. Get to be the princess for a small amount of time then you'd wake up one morning and realize that someday? Fairy tales end.

She was used to her fairy tales ending. Alex had died, ending not only the relationship with her best friend, but the only other person to understand her. Sure, McCoy from home medically understood, but it was different. Then there was Sam Kirk, someone she felt like she understood. They were both going to die in the future. Near future, at that. It was a weird bond that she hadn't felt since Alex died.

McCoy wasn't in her head as much as Alex had ever been. Leonard? She liked to think he was. Except Smith had her reserves of how long that fairytale was going to last before Prince Charming left. Not that she wanted him to leave. She just expected that eventually he would. Life was a series of broken fairy tales to her.

So she sat instead at her corner in the North Sickbay, tapping on the PADD as she hummed slightly to herself. Pretending to work. It was easier to avoid the triple sets of eyes from three different versions of Leonard McCoy if she was "working." ]
