[It had been a disconcerting experience, carrying the soul of that pointy eared-bastard inside him, having him prod and poke around in his head while he charged forward to play martyr for all of Shtel Nor. The scene had replayed itself endlessly in his head; but at least it was only his perspective now instead of the stereo visage that had plagued ( Read more... )

I would certainly hope not.

[ the nurse had been walking through the gardens, having found it a good place to think and relax. she hadn't expected to see the doctor here, but it was good to see him, regardless. hopefully he was back to normal. how he'd acted with the commander's katra in mind had freaked her out a little. ]

[McCoy was not expecting anyone to be in the gardens, hence his decision to come here and think, but at least it was a pleasant surprise to see someone else here.]

Nurse Chapel.

Doctor McCoy. Feeling more like yourself, I trust?

Thankfully.

[He could vaguely recall running into Chapel on the observation deck, but what else happened was a mystery. He guessed that he probably caused her a great deal with trouble with what had happened.]

I owe you an apology.

[Pike had been to the gardens on occasion, mostly to have some quiet time. Being stuck on a station was one thing, being stuck on a station as the highest ranking officer was another. Quiet was much appreciated. Imagine his surprise when he saw Leonard McCoy]

Why would someone think you're a yucca plant?

[Apparently the gardens were not as abandoned as he once hoped. Not that it mattered really as he arched an eyebrow as the Admiral piped up.]

Standing so damn rigid all the time.

[Pike was amused, but then that was his usual state]

Just an interesting analogy.

[McCoy sighed and rubbed his brow.]

I have a million of them.

[As much as they liked to pretend that he was an invalid, he certainly felt well enough about his own faculties- certainly he didn't need to be confined to Sickbay, let alone a bed. Still, it was difficult to leave with so many people watching him.

And so when he saw the doctor leave, he slipped out of the stifling place, following carefully behind him to the gardens of all places. It was something of an awkward choice in his own mind, but then his home had been a desert.

He watched the man pace from a careful distance for a few moments before he stepped forward into a place where he could be seen; he couldn't really bring himself to say anything and stood in silence.

Even though he could guess that the first thing the doctor would do was escort him back to Sickbay.]

[For all the McCoys present on Shtel Nor, it was vexing how they were still outnumbered by their crewmates and ignored by their patients, regardless of having their best interests at hand. So when he turned around and saw Spock standing there, his expression became stormy with a mixture of annoyance and worry.]

What the hell are you doing out of Sickbay?

[He wasn't really sure himself- he had just wanted to leave, to get out, to escape, really. He hardly felt as though he was about to fall over like everyone seemed to think was going to happen if he wasn't in Sickbay.

His voice was soft as he finally spoke, though loud enough to be heard.]

You appeared...troubled.

[McCoy pulled a face at Spock and walked over to seize his upper arm and guide him out of the gardens. He decided to ignore that statement from the weak half-Vulcan and grumbled.]

How can you be deaf with ears like that.

I should think that would be painfully obvious, doctor.

[He had been seeking a moment's peace himself in the garden, and strolled towards McCoy, his posture the very one which his companion had just deliberately shaken off.]

How are you feeling?

[McCoy grunted at the question before he decided to take a seat on one of the benches in the garden. He leant back and crossed his arms over his chest.]

Like I had one of you poke around my head for far too long, Mr Spock.

I cannot imagine that the experience was altogether pleasant. However, it was somewhat necessary.

[While his expression was passive, his voice was tinged with apology.]

Of course it was necessary, but one of you could at least filled me in what .50 was trying to do instead of watching me throw grapes at people and smash my head into the railing.

[ Bones was one of the people she really felt she needed to see. She'd been avoiding him since their last encounter when he hadn't exactly been right in the head. It wasn't exactly funny to see him so frustrated, but a small chuckle escaped her as she came up behind him. ]

You're prickly enough to be one, though.

[He looked over his shoulder at the female version of his best friend and attempted a scowl; it faltered and died miserably, but it was there nonetheless.]

I'll let that comment slide, Jim on account that I haven't seen you in ages.

It's been a while. How are you doing? Better...?

If by better, you mean less likely to wander around spouting my face off with Vulcan nonsense, then yes. I'm in top shape.
