My pal Auto led me to a website where someone has chronicled the weekly Famitsu sales numbers since 1996. It lists the top 100 games from 96-98, the top 300 games from 99-03, the top 500 games from 04-08, and the top 1000 games from 08-10. Also, starting in 06 the Media Create numbers are available too.

Well, I think EXE proper is explained by the leap from the GBA to the DS ( ... )

Looks like series peaked at BN4 and BN3 (my personal favorite), as far as Japan is concerned. It would be nice to get such comprehensive numbers for other regions, but it's harder since NPD Group (US... or do they count all NA sales?) doesn't publicize its numbers like this (and have released less info within the last year) and are estimated values due to several retailers not providing sales data (until July, Walmart didn't provide sales data to NPD).

Rockman X6 sold better than DASH 2. This is pretty depressing.
I can see Data crying in the corner. No wonder Capcom has been so reluctant on making Legends 3...

Sad to see a Classic game not getting more love than that (personally, one of my favorites, I even have an import of the SFC version...)

From its start, Rockman Zero was a downward spiral, which is unfortunate though I can kind of understand.
I guess not as many were fond of Inti's level designs (Spikes, spikes everywhere).

Interesting that the margin between the PS2 and GCN versions was only about 2:1 despite the much larger PS2 install base than the GCN install base.

Ouch. Generally, many consider Megaman X8 to be MUCH better than X7, but perhaps low sales were attributed to the sting of playing X7?
