*Offers big juicy tuna flakes to the angry kitty. Won't make things better about the construction work but hopefully they're tasty and will bring the mood up a bit*
There's a building down the end of our road that is going to be demolished and turned into a block of flats. They've boarded the site up but I don't dare thinking how long it's going to take them or the noise they're going to make all day long... But yes, 7am is not on.
I really really hope, for the sake of everyone in the neighborhood, that they wait until 9AM or later for the noisy stuff. Or that they don't take MONTHS of jackhammering and backhoeing like this project.
Heh - I remember my sophomore year in college, we lived at the end of the hall, and every morning for a month there were jackhammers and yelling outside our window. When I asked why the construction wasn't just done during the summer or winter break, the maintenance dept. replied, "well, we had students visiting!"
Fortunately my dorm never came up for renovation during the two years I lived there, but when they started using that massive pile driver on the LS&A building half a block away...and the sound waves bounced off the stone facade of Angell Hall across the street so that you could hear the thing across the whole of Central Campus...yeah, that was a pretty big suck right there.
Yup, 7am is when they start in Chicago. The building next door was renovating for the first six months of my son's life. Try keeping an infant asleep in conditions like that. *sigh*
Happy birthday despite it all =)kisarazumamaJune 14 2007, 23:45:43 UTC
I can't make construction dudes stop constructing during your sleeptime, but I can at least tell you that I posted a silly Saiyuki thingie in my LJ for your birthday amusement. Hope it's been a good day, dear cat. =)

Awwwww, thank you! It WAS a good birthday, and your Saiyuki story was adorable! (And I figured out that the way to deal with the construction is to go sleep on one of the couches in the basement when they wake me up.)
