I FEEL YOUR PAIN! In my case, it's Pac Bell DSL. Been down for 3 days and admin/hacker extrordinaire named BBQ can't figure his way around this.

Sheez, we were thinking to switch to Comcast, and now THIS happens to you. Pfft.

I'm told that the quality of Comcast's service varies widely depending on whether or not they hold a local monopoly in your area. They seriously hegemonic here, so we get CRAP. If they're not the only game in San Jose, you may fare better.

I agree, it really depends on the area. We had Comcast before we moved, and they sucked even though they had just taken over from Adelphia, who had also sucked. It didn't matter, though, because they were the only cable service in town, so they could be as crappy as they wanted to be. But my mom has Comcast in Pittsburgh and they have much better service there since there are other cable companies in town.
