Finding Someone to Carry Her, Rose/Ten II, PG, 835 words

Author’s Notes: Credit to Joss Whedon and the Firefly team for the quote that I partly paraphrased in the title and referenced in the fic.

Excerpt: She’s been part of a pair ever since she took a hand in a basement and ran. She still hasn’t figured out any other way to be.

THIS.

Love how Rose uses something as simple as a sunset to ground her and in turn, to ground the Doctor. Love the role reversal between the two of them and I love love LOVE her terrible sentence structure, that little bit of council estate girl that slips out with, “It wasn’t never about the space travel or whatever.”

Severe amounts of love for this. So quiet, so simple, and yet so gorgeous. Well done you.

Thank you! I love writing Rose's dialogue a bit rough around the edges.

And thanks for a lovely prompt. :)

Me too! Oftentimes I find people write her and she just speaks too...well, properly! At least I feel like they do sometimes. But you've done her voice very well.

Thank you for writing for it! :D

Wow. I've caused tears before (damn my angsty ways!), but I don't think I've ever got a comment about tears of happiness. It makes for a nice change. ;-)

No really, thank you very much for a lovely comment. You've pretty much made my night.

Trust me, I know what that feeling's like. It's really nice to hear that people are enjoying this fic in particular. I wrote the fic and no matter how much I tried to rework it I was all "Why is this fic not working? WHY?" I had to leave it and come back to it two days later. Pretty much all I did was hack off the first half of it, and slightly rewrote part of the ending. As such, I was a bit worried that I was imagining that I'd actually made it better. It could have still been rubbish (just shorter rubbish). Thanks again for telling me that it's not. It helps. :)
