I worry that the occupation of the Art Gallery will damage the Gallery a publicly funded space. Why not actually "occupy" the public sidewalk outside of Howe and Dunsmuir? I know that second part if mostly rhetorical...
If you're talking about physical damage, then I can't see that there's much for them to damage there, except for cedar chips and the like. On the other hand, if you're talking about the gallery's reputation, I can't immediately think of a better place, symbolically speaking, than the art gallery, especially when you consider their recent major exhibit of the Surrealist movement, which was itself a revolution of ideas.
yes, I was thinking more the physical space and actually keeping people from going there to check out what's going on inside. Although I suppose what is happening outside is just as artistic.
I hope to go check it out and stand in support when I get back in to town.
I also hear that Gregor is in negotiations to have it dissasemble peacefully. But no one knows who he is in negotiations with.
It is an interesting situation, as there is noone officially "in charge," which is what makes it remarkable in my opinion. I imagine that an injunction will have to be sought from the courts in the end, but that will take some time.
