things as I think them

Still not on fire. Yay. Though, it's hot, and I'd like to open the windows, but I can't because of all the smoke. Wait, I have no right to complain, as I have not been evacuated like 1 million other people here in dry, smokey SoCal, nor am I in danger of being on fire at the present time. So, never mind ( Read more... )

Heh. You're actually not the last person to watch Burn Notice. That would be me. And only because jebbypal kept pushing until I watched an ep to shut her up. I gotta say, I really like this show. Yes.

Yay! We'll be tardy watchers. And so the hiatus won't be as long for us. I mean, it'll still be long and sucktastic, but not as long.

I'd seen pieces here and there but for some reason never wanted to watch. But the roommate kept telling me I ought to, and I kept not doing it. Then she was home for the finale so we watched and I thought "you know, that was kind of entertaining and maybe it would be better if I'd seen the rest of the series." And lo! When watched in order? It's fab and a whole lot of fun. Oh, Fi! Oh, Sam! Oh, Mom! I love it.

I hope Bionic doesn't get cancelled...If we can live through six Katee-less episodes this season, she becomes a regular in season two and maybe they'll neutralize the good guys and make it about Katee and Mark Sheppard being evil and snarky...

One could hope. Her character is definitely the most interesting thing about the show. I don't hate Jamie, and if they actually do something with her character, then it'd be really interesting to see the contrasts between her and Katee's character. It could be fun. Right now, though, I just want Katee to kill half of the cast.

Overall, I don't know. It's not grabbing me, but it's not repulsing me either.

That seems to be many people's feelings about Bionic Woman. There's nothing special about it, it completely lacks a coherent narrative focus (due, I assume, to the fact that there've been about eleventeen show-runners thus far), the actress playing the lead lacks charisma and pizzazz, none of the characters really have any depth (or, at this point, any appreciable back-story). But at the same time, it's eerily watchable, even though it's not something I look forward to. (In fact, I only watch eps online maybe during lunch or something.) I can only conclude NBC has slipped in subliminal messages or something, telling people to tune in unenthusiastically each week.

You know, that's a good point. It's sort of like those fanfics that, even though they aren't very well written, you keep reading because it's an interesting premise and it's got promise and you keep hoping it'll get good and that maybe the characters will find some way to be in character ... somewhere, somehow.
