in which I find sweetness where some others find bitterness

Farscape, Stargate, fandom, and the SG1 200th episode -- I've got a couple of things I want to say before the thing airs. So, you know, spoilers. And I'm posting this here rather than on the boards in response to some things, because, well, I like what little sanity I've managed to regain in the year and a half since I retired from the whole ( Read more... )

Amen.

*pauses briefly to fangirl Ben and Claudia*

Farscape was and is my One True Show (which is one reason why I can't write fanfic for it, I think), and for all the brain-burn and heart-break involved, I'm proud of what the fan campaign achieved and the mini-series we ended up with, and I love and revere the people who created the show, and I'm never going to begrudge them having other jobs and having fun and making Farscape jokes for the rest of their working lives should they so chose, because hey, their baby.

And I keep seeing people on LJ who are just discovering the show - recently, a lot of them as a result of seeing BB and CB on Stargate - and people go on being hooked, and the ripples spread outwards.

Ain't nothing to be bitter about, ever.

(OTOH, throwing tiny fish at Brad Wright sounds like fun.)

Dude, I am totally behind the throwing of tiny fish, because really, while it may hurt the fish (but we'll be standing at the side with bowls to put them back into) mostly it'll just make him all smelly and he'll have to go stand in the corner.

But this is a really lovely, well-reasoned testament to both shows and to the people behind them and just, yeah. (It also confirms once again for me that my "stay off the boards" mantra is one I will continue to hold to:)

The thinking is that it's apparently a slap at Farscape, or mocking it in a school bully sort of way

Seriously? Jeez, I mean, that's just kind of silly. Some people just like to think the whole world is out to get them and the things they like, I suppose. To quote Marge Gunderson, as you did yesterday, "And it's a beautiful day. Well, I just don't understand it."

And word to the rest of what you said.

*applause* Well said.

That's amazing that some peoples' first instinct is to assume that SG1 is making fun of Farscape. That never even occurred to me cuz like you said - Ben and Claud!! Hello! No way would they be involved in something like that.

Star Trek, Wizard of Oz, Thunderbirds, and Farscape

Lookee here - our little show, sitting at the grown-ups table! Holding its own with the benchmarks of pop culture!

If Ben and Claudia weren't now part of the SG1 cast, would Farscape have been included? I'm going to say yes, because why wouldn't it be?

Life's too short to look for things to be pissy about. I'm looking forward to 200.
