Toronto has no incentive to keep competitive.

The fanbase is so rabidly loyal they will remortgage their homes to get seats to a game and sell it out even if they lose.

Why would they try. Show up, play some hockey, go for wings and beer, collect a 8digit salary, go home.

Wash rinse repeat.

The fans still buy over priced tickets to watch their favourites lose. If they were winning, nothing would change.... so why change?

Fans will be fans, and I can't blame them. The glory of '69 and earlier will wear off one day - just look at the Chicago Cubs.

Okay maybe not.

I just wish the media would stop super-scrutinizing the Leafs and allow them to suck for a while while they develop. But that seems less likely than the fans losing interest since the media gets paid for it.
Toronto sports media are the ambulance chasers of the media industry. I'm not sure what that means, but I'm not fond of them reporting every wind broken by MLSE or the TML.

Maybe I'm just missing Harold Ballard. Okay, maybe not.

Please, if Toronto started to play consistently well, fans would start to expect it, and then where would you be?

I guess we'd be rioting in the streets like Habs fans ;)
I guess the Leafs sucking is a public service.
