To everyone who commented on the previous post: thank you so much. ♥ Your kind words and e-hugs made me feel immeasurably better. I feel a lot better now: sometimes it's good to talk about things that are bothering you so you can put them in perspective and take them in your stride. Thank you for letting me do that. ♥ Super-special thanks to amarukei, yukitsu, kye_kestrelRead more... )

--it does, actually. Weird.

I think the spectre is the curse.

._.

YOU INFLICTED THIS ON ME. NO WAY OF FINDING OUT AUGH.

Also, if I saw that little rat-thing I would step on it.

Today I stepped on a lizard. I think it was already dead.

What does?! AUGH CONTEXT, WOMAN.

... hrm. But the spectre has the gigantic scythe. Also you see in the girl's vision, when there is a gigantic red cross behind Hanna? There is a cross behind the spectre too. GONNA CROSS YOU OUT OF EXISTENCE, HANNA. Also this may or may not tie back to that cross scar you noticed on his foot in the time-lapse artwork, that matches the cross on his shoes. Also, Hanna Falk Cross. HA HA HA GOOD ONE TESSA.

There IS no way of finding out until we have MOAR CANON!!!

What rat-thing: oh, Mieu. The small blue thing.

... OKAAAAAY, GHIS.

Looks like flight. The anthologies, no?

I put that down to atmospheric symbolism rather than as a by-product of the curse/reaper; it might just mark the general supernatural views from the mundane stuff.

NO WAY EVER I HAMSTER HAMSTER BITE YOU AUGH.

Yep! Very much like Flight, the anthologies.

... woman, I wish to scream (I always exaggerate, but). I went to the artist's dA gallery to check if she had a portfolio of her work that listed her previous works (I really wanted to see if she was a Flight artist), and noticed this on her update re. her Hanna!guest strip: I felt like a heel when the first story I was working on with Veser ended up being too long to finish what with finals and grading and the convention last week
... I-I want to see that Veser story. Or know the plot. Or something. I wonder if she will finish it someday.

... this reminds me of that Pratchett book with the library with ALL THE BOOKS WHICH HAD EVER BEEN WRITTEN AND EVEN THOSE WHICH HAD NOT BEEN WRITTEN? ... am I remembering it right? The one where people get LOST in (sometimes voluntarily) and NEVER COME BACK? ... I bet it's in there.

CROSSES THEY MEAN SOMETHING I TELL YOU.

oh your tiny adorable hamster teeth.

... THANK YOU GHIS THAT IS ENOUGH WITH YOU AND THE ROADKILL.

THAT STRIP, OH MAN. I wanted to grab my HINABN-reading RL friends and be all LOOK LOOK LET'S DISCUSS THIS but they are not as into HINABN as I am and it might have been weird. Did you see that crossed-out!Hanna had the staples on his shirt, mannnn ;_; ;_; At first I thought the little girl was a character from somewhere else, and I'm still not unconvinced of that (there's too much about her for her to just be a one-off in a guest strip), but what she actually is remains a mystery to me. I'd go with Not Human, though, for sure.

Hope you don't mind my jumping in, but I went onto the artist for that strip, and it does look like the character's a one-off - she says that she didn't get any plot-info from Tess, and just based the girl off banshee stories.

Ooooh, banshees! That makes a lot of sense, actually. Thanks for pointing that out! More fuel for the analysis fire...

...And went I said "went onto the artist", I meant I went on to her DA page. Right. A-anyway.

It's a more charming reinterpretation of the banshee mythology than I'd ever have expected. This guest comic is great on so many levels.

The death behind Hanna kinda made me think of death in the 'His Dark Materals' where your death is always with you, so if that's true the reaper behind Hanna is his and the girl is the bird's death. Since he can see her he might be able to see his own and rather than talking out loud he was actually addressing his death ( ... )

I never thought of that! That is a fascinating possibility.

You also made me think that the dialogue that says, "Next time we meet, I'll sing my song for you, Hanna" may possibly come from the specter behind him, rather than from the girl. Crazy, but it's true that the girl's voice is represented by dark-text-on-white-background (like when she says, "For that I'm truly sorry"), and if there is the "other voice" from the spectre behind him, that separate and distinct voice is represented by white text on a dark background.

Another thought could be there are different death's for taking different things to the after life.
And this too. ! Thanks for your thoughts! These are really amazing possibilities. Neil Gaiman had this thought as well, that there is a Death for humans and there is the Death of Rats, so there's that.

That he was the subject to some kind of dark magic, maybe even using his chest as a gate way ( ... )

I think.

Hanna is dead.

That is all.

No wait I lied baseballidiot March 17 2010, 18:45:12 UTC
I think the crosses on Hanna's feet might have matched up with with those on his shoes because his shoes were slashed through to his feet.

Also, that he was killed and brought back to life when he was a teenager. That bit in the timestream drawings where his eyes are abnormally big and broken.

And that... he came from a single parent family. Or was an orphan. Something like that which meant that he grew up a neglected, happy kid. If you get what I mean.

oh, you. *affectionately* thelovemafia March 18 2010, 03:07:18 UTC
But I think the crosses on his shoes look like they were drawn-in (magic-symbol type): they don't look to me like cuts in the shoe.

Died-and-reanimated sounds about fine to me. ;) That part in the timestream drawings? WHEN HANNA WAS A GHOUL (TEMPORARILY).

he grew up a neglected, happy kid
Heh heh. Interesting concept. I suppose Hanna was very much a person who was good at making his own happiness (he still is).

Oh wait. You're right. baseballidiot March 18 2010, 10:20:19 UTC
But that's a typical young boy thing isn't it? Drawing patterns on your shoes to look cool. Instead of purposeful magic symbolism.

Lol possible. Bet you Worth was the one who fixed him up, with the band-aid and all.

omg the art! the storytelling! the possibilities! the foreshadowing! the sneaky peek into Hanna's backstory! AUGHHHHHHH I LOVE THIS! I love a comic strip I can go and THINK about and talk to people about and get ZILLIONS of possibilities and answers about WHAT IT COULD BE!
SERIOUS. This page was a treat and a terror and left me amazed.

But I can't begin to think what the girl is - not 'death' as a whole, I don't think, but certainly something to do with peaceful death. An angel?

That icon + those keywords is adorable and lol. But I actually can't figure out WHERE Livejournal made it's changes - secretly, I'm a Luddite.

I feel the necessity of sparkling at your Veser icon thelovemafia March 18 2010, 03:12:47 UTC
(ps person in my icon is a boy despite looking pretty girly over there)

This page was a wonderful wonderful extra-canon gift. ♥ Utterly lovely.

I think of the little girl as Death-the-bringer-of-final-peace/Death-the-peaceful and the spectre Death-the-reaper (the one who really takes your life away). Girl brings you peace at the end. There are many aspects of death, after all. That's just the way I think about it.

Hrm... angel is a possibility. *tilts head* She seems a little dark for it, but who knows? :) Who says angels have to be all sweetness and light? After millenia of death it'd be pretty darn hard not to be at least a little dark yourself.

CUTE, INNIT? THAT TINY BLUE THING. It's from a PS2 game called Tales of the Abyss, which I think has one of the strongest stories of any fictional universe of ALL TIME!!! / kanye west ( ... )
